The One That Got Away

Also on the S&W forums was a NIB model 13, 3", rb for $400.00. As soon as I read the sales add I should have bought it. Went back later and it was sold. :(

Luckily I buy most good deals but a few due to stupidity and possible lack of funds slip by. Missed these. Except where noted, guns were in excellent shape.

Dan Wesson 22lr 6" blued $250 in 2002.

S&W 27 in presentation case $400 in 2002

Colt Lawman 357 2" blued $300 in 2003

S&W 19 2/12" blued $250, bought out from under me.

Ruger single six convertible in stainless $225 last month.

S&W 625 for $200! But I did get one for $300 with the rarer mod of 1988 markings but it needed $40 in gunsmithing. 2002.

Colt OP with period custom gunsmith work, $150 in 2001, had some function issues supposedly but I did get the similar customized with stag grip New Service in 45LC for same price and stupidly traded it for a S&W mod 14.

S&W mod18 22lr for $300 last year.

I could go on but it makes me sad to do so.

Having worked in guns shops, I have passed up many good deals, usually for the lack of $$. The one that hurt me the most was a beautiful Drilling made in Mainz, Germany. 16x16 over 9.2x72R. The store was not interested at $400. My boss couldn't write the check out to the guy fast enough, and what pains me is I had the cash in my back pocket. Rent. :banghead: He cleaned it up a little (had sat in a basement, and the guy that brought it in found it there when he bought the house.) and sold it for $1600, and that buyer was glad to pay that.

STUPIDEST thing i ever did.

I sold a Ruger #1 in 7mm mag for 200 dollars because there was a hairline fracture in the butt. :barf: :banghead: :barf:

A super sweet Carl Gustav bolt action, SCOPED, carbine in 6.5 Swede, with the sssmmmooooooootttthhheeessssttttt bolt action I've ever felt, for....... $125.00. It's been about 14 years, & I still regret it deeply. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Also, a stainless Colt Delta Elite at a private table at a gunshow; he was asking $450. :cuss:
