We all know politicians are more influenced by political contributions than requests from their actual constituents.
In Florida, in the wake of the latest shooting, a large Republican contributor has announced he will no longer make donations to any candidate who does not endorse an assault weapon ban. He is also calling upon other contributors to do the same thing.
He personally addressed the current FL governor, Mr. Scott, who is considering a run for the US Senate, to whom he had previously given funds, and said none would be forthcoming without a policy announcement in the area he is requesting.
This may be where it starts, at least for FL. Or it may be nothing, but definitely something to watch and see if it catches on.
