This all started when a resident of a house a mile and a half downrange and on the other side of a mountain claimed that a rifle bullet from Blue Trail Range struck his house and landed directly in his daughters bed.
So far they have not been able to prove that any of the rounds that struck the house came from Blue Trail Range. There are lots of woods around the range that are used for hunting and some people go there to target shoot even though it is not their property.
From what I have read and heard from local news sources the police are asking people to voluntarily turn in any .50 cal rifles they may own so that ballistics testing can be performed on them to see if they fired the bullet that struck a house miles away from the range. It scares me that they know exactly how many .50's are supposedly in state at this time. Also this testing will be conducted in Mass. If somebody turns in their rifle for testing what do you think the chances are of them getting it back? With CT and MA being some of the most anti-gun states in the northeast I would say the chances are pretty slim.
Now the question is how much longer will it be before this voluntary turn in becomes mandatory and the police begin confiscation? What happens to the guns brought into mass? Can the MA police confiscate them if they are not MA legal even though CT police brought them into the state?
How long before someone else comes forward with a random bullet they found near their house and the police begin asking people to turn in every gun they own in that caliber?
Here is another good one. Just like that Iraqi lady holding up live rounds and claiming somebody shot them through her house! http://www.wtnh.com/Global/story.asp?S=8432275&nav=3YeX2ScG
If they are finding shells on his property then it stands to reason that the bullets hitting his house are coming from his own property. It could be people illegally shooting on his land or he could be dumb enough to shoot his own house in an attempt to get the range shut down.

He did say that troopers were looking for the owners of the 54 weapons in Connecticut capable of shooting .50-caliber rounds

News Channel 8 followed Dinatale and his neighbors into the wooded area on his property earlier this month to find dozens of shells. Dinatale says each one was motivation to file a lawsuit against the range, and the town of Wallingford, Wednesday morning.
