..and then there's the comedic value...

Mine (still less than 24 hours old to me) came with a couple of snap caps... I load one, hold the other betwixt middle and ring fingers of my left hand, mount/cock, "fire", hit the latch to break the action; sproing... snap cap bounces off forehead... slap the other snapcap in, close the action, "fire" again... and this time I'm wise to its evil ways... I twist the gun slightly as I break the action... still looking for that second snap cap... it went thataway!

*LOL*

I see a place for this as a really neat act for comedy clubs and maybe even lead to a DVD of comedy routines...

I suggest leaving the Garand Thumb routine until the last act...*grin*

H&R

Had to throw in my $0.02

My first shotgun - H&R .410. Got it when I was 10 for Christmas. Used when I got it - used by me ever since(over 30 years). I still have it - still use it - still love it. After reading this thread I think it may be time to add another H&R to the collection.

:)

I like mine so much that I sent it back to the factory and had it fitted with 2 more barrels. It now is convertable from .45/70 to rifled 12ga slug gun and .500 S&W. It is a light handy...rifle.

The first shotgun I used for hunting was an H&R Topper model 20 gauge. I still have it. At one point I used to use it for 16 yard trap. With the full choke and plain barrel, it could hold a pretty good pattern at the distance I needed. When I was practicing with it, I could consistently get in the range of 20-22 of 25. In fact I irritated one of the local Trap shooter when me with the plain barrel $60 shotgun nearly beat him at his own game shooting a $2000 over/under Beretta. I scored 21, he scored 22.. but as we all know, it's the Indian not the arrow. :D
