Come one, Come all to a casual THR "shoot n' greet" at the "Hite Hollow" outdoor range.

Where?: Hite Hollow shooting range at George Washington National Park
When?: Saturday - September 20, 2008 @ 12:00 noon to ???
This is a RAIN or SHINE event!

This is a "bring what you will" event as the "hollow" has no restrictions (this group sure had fun in 2004).

There is a 25yd pistol range and a separate rifle range with 50, 100, and 150 yard hangers for targets.

The range has a permanent pit toilet and covered shooting areas but there is no running water or other amenities so bring your own food/drinks.

This is a free event but it sure wouldn't be a bad gesture to bring a few bucks to stuff in the hollow's donations-box as that goes towards maintenance of the area.

I would also respectfully ask that folks bring a few heavy duty trash bags as well so we can do a "trash-pick" after we're done shooting (try and leave the area cleaner than when we arrived).

You know, every time I see "deep in the valley" I want to ask which cavern you're living in. ;)

Meanwhile, I'll see what I can do. I drive from Richmond to Harrisonburg to see my folks at VMRC just about every Friday, so a slight change in the schedule should do it.

I know, I'll skip the visit with the folks and stop in Fishersville on the way to the Hollow and buy a new gun at Dominion Outdoors. I love having a new plan.

Well I intend to have others, this is just the first. Still if anyone can make it that'd be fun! (especially anyone with a .45-70 levergun >hint hint<) :evil:

I'm in on the beer buy. Schedule another get together in 12 mo? That can come after the shoot. We can have a little fellowship at the closest fairly decent establishment. We can even open-carry! ;)
 
I would, but I'm afraid Virginia Tech football has to take priority. Maybe some time not during college football season?
 
Gah, I'd love to come but having a wedding in a month seems to have removed all free time leading up to it...

First Timer Questions

I am going to be there from Leesburg. Full auto is OK, right? (Judging by the above-referenced video, I'm thinkin' yes.)

Is it OK to shoot at target thrown out on the ground like plastic soft drink bottles filled with water?

Should I bring a folding table? Can I set it up on the line somewhere and shoot from in front of it?
