I HAVE DISCOVERED THE SECRET TO TIME TRAVEL!!!!!!!! Between kids, new couches, and a spendy SWMBO, I finally managed to get my new Stainless Springfield 1911 out of layaway on the first of this month. Unfortunately, I then became acquainted with the super-cool, 5 day waiting period. FIVE DAYS HECK!! It has been well in excess of five days and the only explanation is time travel! I’ve been in a time warp for at least 6 weeks now! Ahh crap, I’ve soiled myself again….

Seriously though, it’s probably for the best that we have to wait 5 days to bring home a pistol. I mean, I could be so incredibly angry with my wife, that, instead of wasting her with either the Rem 7400 or 870 I already own, I instead paid off a $750 pistol I’ve had in layaway for 2.5 months, so I could shoot her with that…..in anger……..even with the cooldown period…

I think that Phil is just slightly ticked off at the idiocy of the waiting period. After all, he's already got guns, so a waiting period on a gun that he's been salivating over for 2 1/2 months makes no sense, not if the goal is to stop "heat of passion" killings.

I, personally, don't have to deal with waiting periods any more (not since I left the PRNJ and don't have to get a freakin' permit from the Chief of Nannies to buy a handgun), but I do sympathize.

I have never understood the logic of waiting periods. One can't legally buy a gun, but can steal one or acquire one illegally without the wait. Or if I wanted to use a long gun, Viola!

Ha, 5 days? It took me about 10 minutes to get my AK-47 with 2 bayonets, folding stock and 2 30-round magazines. That was during my lunch break.

I have never understood the idea of the waiting period. I guess it is just one more way for Big Bro to keep us common folk in line.

The whole waiting period BS is usually "justified" by the idea of the "cooling off period." Unfortunately, waiting periods do nothing to stop violent retribution. They do, on the other hand, sometimes cause a rise in crime as women who are being stalked must wait for several days before they can defend themselves against scum.

Thank God that NICS replaced the waiting period here in TN. It never did any good anyway. BG's could steal anything without waiting.

Now there's a bill pending in the state legislature to eliminate even the NICS and accompanying fee if the buyer has a CP. Keeping fingers crossed.
