First, thank you for all the feedback on .31 C&B revolvers, and still on the small caliber theme, does any one remember the Tingle pistol, put out by the 60's? It looked, at first glance like a '58 Remington with a solid frame and no cylinder, it was a .40 cal m/l single shot. Dixie sold something very similar in .45 for a while.I had one for many years, and loved it dearly, but finally traded it off, and always missed it, so I cobbled one up with a brass frame. A friend fell in love with it so I lost that one. Now I find myself in posession of a chunk of .36 barrel by Rayle and some more brass. I would like to try a bird's head grip this time, I'll let you know what happens.
The other half of this barrel went into an underhammer, [another friend got that one!]that shoots a.350 ball beautifully, so if I do my part, the little neverwaser should shoot, and should look about like what would happen if a Lindsay and a Hammond,[like the one that did in Big Nose Kate]had an affair.

There is a fellow over at the Sixshooter Community who was selling a .40 Tingle about a week ago. I would have bought it, except I just bought one of the Italian .45 versions like the ones Dixie sold, only mine says F.I.E. on it.

These are great. Very simple, rugged, and quite accurate. I'm well pleased, especially with the fit and finish.

Not sure if this is a tingle or not...

bppistol5.gif but I'm trying to get some info on it - selling it for a lady who just lost her husband and he had a few BP firearms. I'm in Blaine WA.

Yes I recall the Tingle. The fellow who made them and the rifles was always at Friendship in the early 60s. These guns were made in Indiana. Later on FIE made one called the "Prospector" in a .44 Cal. I have one of these they are only of fair quality. :)

Deer Creek's catalog (tel: 765-525-6181) lists a .44 cal. Prospector pistol (made by Traditions/CVA?), 8.5 inch barrel, 1 in 22" twist, solid brass backstrap & trigger guard, hammer notch rear sight, 1 piece walnut grip, $149. :)

This one, is a Tingle made by Pietta.

Look good, the idea seems good, the result is so-so. In other words, a good candidate for homework and tuning.
