Ok, here it goes.

For all those intersted... It has been suggested that we have another TN Mafia get together. This one however (it has been proposed) will be a non-shooting get together, so we can hopefully sit a bit a chat and get to know everyone a little better.

Some members of THR who don't live in TN will be down the last week of August and begining of September, and want to meet some of the "family"

I will attempt to cooordinate this event. But will welcome any help from those who want to give me some assistance. I'm currently on vacation in FL and have some free time

So, from the previous post on this subject here are the particulars as I understand it.

When: August 30
Where: TBD (somewhere in Nashville?)
Type of outings suggested: cookout, dinner at a resturant, cookout at an individuals house, ....
Time: ?
Who: Anyone who wants to come

As you can see my event planning skills are pretty minimal at this point. At least we know we want to meet up on the the 30th and eat something somewhere :D

So here's what I need to know to get this party started..... so to speak.

Who want's to come? Type of venue prefferred? Food preference?

Seeing how the 30th is fast approaching if you kind folks could have some input back to me in a few days that would give those who are out of state a better time frame to plan.

Your THR Cruise Activity Director,

...Dave

Im there

If we dont do a cook out, which is kinda hard seeing how most of us live in apartments here.... Lets think of something very Nashvillian to go to or do. We have quite a few interesting places to eat or hang out that arent anywhere else. Hell we have a place called Pig and Pie out on 70 past charlotte pike....i dont know about you, but that sounds down right tastey. Maybe if we do eat out, someplace like Swetts, even tho I know Darrin and I eat there a little more than maybe we should. good down home country cooking thats for sure.

I'll be there, the good Lord willin' an' the crick don't rise... I'll be staying with Oleg, I guess, and will arrive late on the evening of Thursday 8/28. Hopefully, by then this will be organized, and I'll know where to go on Saturday! :D

I volunteer our house as long as those of you who are picky will let us know food and drink preferences.

Also, if it's show and tell, it would have to be no alcohol which is fine but just let us know in advance.

Dave, you might have to double as dog-watcher along with your directing activities so that she does not lick everyone to death.

Does anyone attending have problems with dogs? She is a really vicious creature ;)

Sheslinger

I'm in. I'm sure I can figure out some sort of dish to whip up and bring. Adult beverages sound ok, I don't drink much regardless. You'll have to post directions. If you'd rather, just drop me a PM.

Frank

That dog is the most dangerous creature....wait its Chris trying to get to the next Sig that is more dangerous.

Anyone coming from the southwest can get a ride with me, (now with 4 door car). The parking at the slinger's isnt the greatest. But thanks for the house Julie.....you two are great

Slingers, my only concern at your house would be parking. How nice are your neighbors? :D

Since I can't cook worth a, umm, squat, I'll sign up for either soft drinks or chips. ;)

FWIW, I don't drink, so alcohol makes no difference to me. (Now what did I do with my crack pipe?  ;) )

There is parking along the first house on the left and the first house on the right as you enter the court. No problem. Two more cars can fit in our driveway.

We'll manage. After this week at work, I need to be around people I don't want to choke.

We'll probably just do burgers and dogs. I will make a Russian salad and probably some other stuff to go with the meat. Any vegetarians?

Sheslinger

Double duty with the dog is ok with me...as long as it's not dooty duty :D .

Ok. it sounds like an outside grilling extraveganza. Thank you to the Slingers for the use of the dwelling.

I will bring some BBQ and I'll try to get some shiskabobs. Darrin your on the hook for chips and soft drinks. OEF_VET is brining the mystery dish. Anyone want to bring some potato salad, baked beans, or any other quick and easy item.

Does anyone have any preferences on what they don't/are unable to eat?

What about non grilling items?

Who wants to supply the dogs, burgers and buns.

As of now I count about 12 folks so far. If everyone would, go ahead and PM me if you want to come. I'll send out some directions and that way we'll also have food contengency plan.

How does 1pm sound to be there and get the frill going?

Why choke them, just round up a posse from the invited guests and go out and get some frontier justice.

Well I guess I'll have to cut the grass.:barf:

Actually this sounds really good. It would be nice to just get to know some people without actually shooting.

As Sheslinger said we will probably have alcohol so let's keep show and tell to a minimum. I don't care if you carry as long as you don't drink.

Darrin, you can smoke your crack out front. I am sure our next door neighbor the ex-PA state trooper, current metro head of criminal ballistics won't mind one bit. As a matter of fact why don't you ask him to join you, he seems like a pretty adventurous type of guy. Just let me know so I can get some ahhh pictures. :D

Don't worry about food, salads, etc. Just bring whatever you are going to drink. We will have homemade salsa and salads and whatever the main course ends up being.

Julie

I'd be happy to show up and contribute something assuming something doesn't sabotage my schedule (it's been known to happen ..). I'm not much of a cook but I'd buy meat and/or bring soda's & what not. Little or no alcohol for me since I would be driving and I'm not much for alcohol anyway.

I can see two things happening here:

1. I end up on the 'Americas Dumbest Criminals' segment on John Boy & Billy Radio. "Darrin walked up to the LEO and asked him to hold his crack while he got the pipe out."

~or~

2. You win $10,000 on 'Americas Funniest Home Videos' as the police drag me away.

I guess this will be a sober party for me. ;)

So I've got drinks and chips? Any requests?

Chris/Julie, just tell me what to bring, and I will bring it.

I think you have my numbers.

Todd

Please email or PM myself or Cslinger if you are coming so that we can have an idea of how many people and also reply to you with directions.

Thanks
Julie

Sorry folks

Sorry I didn't make it today. I had something unexpected come up and I didn't have my cell phone on me to call anyone.

I hope no one starved because I didn't bring the chips. ;)

Y'all have a good time?

Darrin,
You missed us making fun of you ;) , good food and (of course) great company, the slinger's dog eating from my plate when I looked away, OEF_VET and Preacherman sharing war stories like The Land Mine Tales Chapter XXIII, and Watch The Afghanis Wet Their Pants When They Discover We Have Night Vision.

And everybody showed off their combat Tupperware.

"So who doesn't have a Glock?"
(some meek, embarrassed hands raise)

Darrin, a good time was had by all. (at least as far as I could tell..)

It was a night of fascinating stories, and miscellaneous fairy tales.:D

I just hate it that I got there late. Somehow I had it in my fat head that the shindig started at 8pm. I know, I know.....

When I finally arrived at 7:30, the party was still going, and several awesome stories were still to be told.

Kudos to (especially, but not limited to,) Julie, Oleg, and Preacherman.

Thanks to the Slingers for the gracious hospitality. I have been to their house a couple of times now, and they have always been perfect hosts.

Who says that the 'net is only a place for perverts and stalkers? This is a great place for making friends.

I look forward to the next occasion.

Todd

Aahhhhhhhhhhhhhh...

You guys are making me blush.

We had so much fun. We definitely have to do this again. Maybe next time we can start a book on life, written by the TN THR Chapter. Part I, Chapter I - How Do You Raise Your Kids Appreciative Of What They Have?

Might be a bestseller - imagine a book on life written by a bunch of gun nuts. This way the public can learn that "wow, these people can build complex sentences and intelligently speak on pretty much any philosophical topic". Think about it. We can even call it that - Gun Nut's Reflections on Freedom, Friendships, and Life in General.

Thank you guys, once again, for an awesome party. See you at the range.

Julie

Chris and Julie,

Thanks for your hospitality. It was very gracious of you to host the shindig and provide as much food as you did. Angie and I had a great time. Speaking of Angie, she was wondering if you could hook her up with the recipe for the potato/onion dish that you had made. She really liked it.

I'm looking forward to the next time and to the upcoming range day.

Darrin, you missed a good party, complte with good food and good friends.

Frank

Ok, dangit! When is the next one?!

In about 2 or 3 months, I'll be buying a house and will volunteer to host a non-shoot. (Unless I get enough land.... )

Glad all had a good time.
