Today I enjoyed the outdoors. I chose to carry......

I'd forgotten about the Vasques. I bought a pair at a Cabelas over twenty years ago, and they're still in my closet.
Vasques used to be an Italian company. They were considered The Gold Standard in hiking boots.

They had the same reputation Lowas have now. Except you couldn't send them back to the factory for free repair like you can with Lowa.

Then the company moved their manufacturing to China and the quality went to tihs. They almost went bankrupt but they're starting to make good boots again

I bought two almost brand new pairs in a surplus store downtown right after the Army switched to the OCP pattern.

I think I paid 20 bucks a piece for them.

The longest hike I ever did with them was 18 mile in the mountains.
Thank you.
These look similar to the Danner Tenacious I purchased several years ago. Looks like the Bellvilles have a thicker sole

Love the camouflaged holster. Goes great with the camouflage shirt.
Thanks. Down here it's been a truly long hot summer and definitely needed to avoid those hot tin roofs. Over seventy 100+ days so far.

Funny kinda story. A week or so I got a call from the President of our Home Owners Association that someone had contacted him about dangerous branches about to fall from the oaks out front. He came by and I went out and we inspected the trees and there were a few small dead ends over the street but none big enough to do much if any damage. I said I'd call the tree guy and get them removed even though he agreed it certainly was something not threatening.

As usual I was openly carrying and wearing one of my Hawaiian or Key West print shirts, shorts, Happy Socks and with long hair and a tie died bandanna.

The shirt and rig I think I was wearing that day.

I called the tree guy and he and a worker came over to cut down the dead branches.

All three commented on the shirt. None of them even seemed to notice the big old Highway Patrolman. Maybe camouflage works.

Up here the weather has been typical Wisconsin. Hot one day, cool the next! And Wisconsin like in-between.

The forecast for today is 90. But tomorrow is 100. Not the feels like, the actual temperature 🥵 That might be a frequent temp in Texas, but it is not in Wisconsin.

I need to get in some trigger therapy this week! And a few hikes ...

I like Merrill’s and Oboz for trail hikes, and Danners for bush whacking. Danners were what I wore to work in the woods for a decade. I typically got 1-1.75 years out of a pair.

But they have gotten stupidly expensive.
I need to go to 10 mm.

Thankfully yogi is smaller black bear and not griz b/c 45 ACP isn't enough for griz.
I’ve ditched most of my 45s in favor of 10mm. Seems logical for the outdoors give the performance.

I just keep this last one around.

Thank you the information. Agree on Danner pricing. Caught these on sale a few years back otherwise I would not own them.
Understand on the 45's. My Kimber was a self present when I changed jobs years ago. The Glock 30 was a gift from my wife. Both have sentimental ties.
I have a couple 10's, just need more trigger time. If I were in grizzly territory they would get the nod regardless.

Not sure when the sale on Danners is ending at Cabela's. The Green Bay store was out of my size 14...☹️
They were like $140. They are having a trade in sale. Give them a old pair of boots and they give you an additional discount on a new pair!

Just be careful if you end up by the gun counter! You may just need to add a 1911 in 10mmmmmmmm. 🤣

THR enablers are working overtime this week 🙂

When did GB get a Cabela's? I left the area in 2009 and was not aware they had one.
I already have a 1911 in 10mm. Ruger SR1911. Not much trigger time, yet
More like double time😁
