This weekend I took my daughter Tori on her first big game hunt and she shot a very nice boar with her custom M-70 .308.
Here is the story in her own words.
Enjoy
This is the story of my first big game animal. It all started when my dad got me my new gun and I learned how to shoot it. The rifle is a 308 with a short stock. My dad loaded me some bullets that don’t kick very hard. Last Friday we went to the ranch in Texas to go hog hunting.
We drove all around on Saturday , my dad shot two and my dog ,Nitro, caught one. Later that evening we walked almost a mile to where we new there were a lot of hogs by corn bait. Me, my sister ,mom ,and dad laid down and waited for a hog to come by. Then just before dark a pig came by but I never got a shot because it didn’t turn sideways then it went into the bush and came out again about 5 times then it finally began to feed and turned sideways!
We new it was at 102 yards like we had practiced the day before. Once the pig turned sideways my dad said “Turn off your safety and let him have it“. So I aimed for his shoulder and squeezed the trigger. Then the pig ran away and we heard him crash into the trees. Then we went down there to look for blood. My dad found blood pretty close to where the pig was. Then we followed the blood for about 50yards and then we found the pig! My dad gave me a big hug and he said he was proud of me.
It was so dark we had to take pictures with the flashlight. My mom who is a vet cut open its chest and I found out I hit it in the heart. I can’t wait to go hunting again.

Here is the whole crew. It is a bit blurry, It's a bit tough to do the auto timer thing at night.
