Trying to decide 6.5 CM or 308 Win

Frankly, that’s a driving force for why the 6.5 creed was invented - target shooters asked for a short action cartridge...

If that is its' only reason to be, okay.
But, In a target rifle with a comparable superior barrel, and with superior reloads, the 6.5 Swedish results would be much the same.

You’re right. Except a long action, naturally.

I wonder why the 6.5 Creed was invented, instead of hundreds of pro PRS shooters choosing to shoot 6.5x55?

Is the 6.5 cm better than the 260 Rem?

At a glance I agree. Id say its generally a better choice NOW for sure.

Theres nothing the 6.5CM can do balistically that the .260 cannot also do.
The only real advantage the 6.5CM has over the .260 is that it fits in 2.8" magazine boxes better, and IMO thats no small thing considering pretty much ALL short actions have at most a 2.9" mag box.

IF the .260 had been marketed better, and given a better twist, its unlikely the 6.5CM would see the wide popularity that it does today, even with the COAL limitations. It was not tho, and didnt receive the kind of initial support or acceptance the 6.5CM did.

Now if you ask me if ill ever build a .260 (id buy one in a sec if it fell in my lap), the answer would be no, unless something weird happened.
