So I had some running around to do today and one of my errands took me near my favorite gun shop. The first thing I found out is that they had a lot of stuff in stock that I did not expect. First of all they had A LOT of AR-15's I mean probably 10-12 AR's. Granted I have not been to a gun shop since the election but everywhere I keep hearing that finding an AR is next to impossible, these guys had plenty at very fair prices. They also had Remingon UMC .40 in stock it was slightly higher than I normally pay but nobody else has had it while I was looking so I bought 3 boxes.

But here is what surprised me, almost every time I go into this store the customer service is GREAT I also like the set up of the store because all the rifles are on a few racks in the center of the store and the handguns are behind the counter but they are never shy about letting you handle stuff even if they know you are looking. So today I am in their trying to talk myself out of a new .22lr pistol. Another customer walks in, and walks up to the counter he told the employee that he was having a pretty bad coyote issue and he needed a rifle for coyotes. At this point the employee was completely useless. All he said is "coyotes are pretty small so anything bigger than .22lr will be fine". At no point did he try and make suggestions or maybe point out something that was cheap and would do the job.

I know for a fact that they had several guns on the racks that would be great coyote guns. This kinda bugged me but I guess that's just the way it goes.

Oh its a great shop good people and fair prices, I actually didnt buy my M&P with them because Keiths had it in stock but after the number of times I have had great service without buying anything at Gun Broker I will certainly be buying my next guns there. In addition when 2 of my buddies were looking for hunting rifles I made sure to take them there. One of them bought a NICE 30-06 off the used racks.

What is wrong with a 22LRHP for coyotes?

We have a cattle ranch in eastern colorado, and needless to say we have a serious coyote problem every year. 22lr works fine if you have good shot placement (head or heart), but most shots are made from 100 to 300 yards. it's hard to make that good a shot with a 22lr (at least it is for me). The rifle I like for coyotes is the 22-250; fast, flat, good accuracy, and heavy enough to cause serious damage if hit just about anywhere on the body. I suppose 90% of coyote hunters out here shoot the 22-250.

Gun Broker is great. And the Bi-Mart just a couple doors down is a good place for ammo (at least it was the last time I went there).

Thats a bummer that the employee was not very helpful to someone else, so what will happen next time you need help. I have learned that the gun shops around here (Albany, Or) are trying to get every dime out of your pocket. The ammo and brass/bullets are outragously priced and the employees don't seem very helpful. I have learned alot from the internet forums like this one and get my advise that way. Whoever has what I want in stock gets my business (usually mail order).
