some one told me collapsable/folding stocks are not permitted for hunting. Does anyone know if that is true? It doesn't make sense to me if it is, but not meny upstate NY laws make sense period, so i wouldn't doubt it. Any info would be good. tried to call DEC and got no answer, maybe I'll call them back mon.

From what the laws state in NY it is not a DEC reg but part of the overal assault weapons reg. NY still kept some part of the assault weapons ban in palce and folding, collapsing and telescopic stocks are part of it.

That's right. I asked a dealer about the new FN carbines and he explained it wasn't sold in NYS .They would have to make a NY version !!

cdet69 thanks for your reply. your right but it doesn't include pre-ban rifles or shotguns. And the Ban also doesn't apply to pump, bolt or lever shotguns or rifles, just semi-autos. The "Ban" is absolutly ludicrous. So anyhow would it be legal to hunt with a preban semi-auto shotgun with a folding stock. I'm not shooting deer from the hip, I enjoy folding stocks because they are easier to pack and stow away than a full length shotgun or rifle.
