Hi everyone, flexible here.
Getting my first 9mm soon and the wait list for dies is very long.
Is it possible to use my .38Super dies and use a LOT of adjustments?
thanks

Yes you can. In fact, some folks use the 38 sizer instead of a 9mm U-die to remove bulges. The Super is tighter .384” compared to the 9mm .391”

Yeah the 38super die trick is for people looking for a bulge buster, for if you get a lot of badly bulged 9mm.
I have sized many thousands of range picked 9mm and tossed maybe a big handfull total.

I use a 9mm Mak Lee factory crimp die to bulge bust 9x19 cases, with lube.
Go ahead and try a .38 Super sizing die on a 9x19 case and tell us.
All I see is a damaged case web and a real step between the sized case length and the case length under the shell plate.
If manufacturer’s thought it would work, they would label as such.

Yeah, didn't think it would work. I have a Dillon 550C for my pistol reloads and they are really backordered on 9mm dies.
thanks

I use the Dillon 550 for pistol rounds, it's faster than my Redding T7 that i use for rifle.
I always decap seperately, before tumbling, but that first Dillon station is fast for priming and the 2nd station, the powder drop, is also fast.
flexible.

Actually i wonder if i can use the Redding Premium 3 die set, the only die the Dillon offers that is different is the powder charging station and i can still get that.

38 ACP/Super sizing dies do works nicely for 38 S&W in a pinch.

I realize the OP wants to use Dillon dies with his Dillon press but if Dillon had them on back order the OP could use another brand of dies on his 550. Get the 9mm Conversion kit for the 550 from Dillon and order a set of dies from someone else. It look like its going to be the better part of a year before Dillon will be shipping 9mm dies. You can always sell the other dies when you finally get the Dillon dies.

i have also used the 38 expander for cast bullets, but normal 9mm gets normal dies that are appropriate for the caliber.

I would check out Amazon and get a set.

It's best to use a dedicated 9mm sizing die but you can get away with using the others from a 38S set. Problem with the 38S sizing die is that it's straight walled and will squeeze the 9mm case .005" smaller at the base which will crease the brass. Pic shows three 9mm cases sized. Two on the left(different head-stamps) were sized with a 38S die, and the one on the right was sized with a proper 9mm tapered sizer. No reason to cheap out on proper reloading, get the correct die.

To add, I do not have any Dillon dies for my Dillon BL550. Other brands of 7/8”-14 dies work just fine.

I even use a Redding 10-X or RCBS Uniflow powder measures with a Hornady Case Activated Powder drop system.

As jmorris said, the Dillon SDB uses proprietary Dillon dies.
