What is the acceptable way to dispose of "USED MEDIA MIX". My used media needs to be replaced, what do most re-loader' do with their used media? I have about 2-3 lbs to dispose of. Do most re-loaders put the USED MEDIA in the trash or is there a way to effectively remove any contaminants or recycle the media? What should I do with used media after cleaning Ammo Brass first to remove the polish then to remove the bullet lube after reloading? What should I do with my used media? It is Crushed Walnut and Crushed corn media. Thanks for your response and advise. Never thought of what to do with the media after cleaning!!

It is Crushed Walnut and Crushed corn media.
Jerry Miculek washes his used corn cob media in concrete mixer, rinse, dry and reuse. 👍

At 2:50 minute, he talks about washing dirty corn cob media in cement mixer and drying on wire mesh fabric/window screen box and why window screen is used on top of wire mesh fabric, so drying corn cob media won't fall through.

As a test, I have washed crushed walnut media that was fully loaded up to not clean/polish anything in 5 gallon bucket, warm water and dish soap; then rinsing in water to sun dry in the driveway and worked just like new. :)

FYI, crushed walnut is so hard that sharp edges don't get worn, rather get dirty or loaded up with crud.

If you feel compelled to dispose of used media, I would put it in plastic bag and toss in the trash.

Better yet, put it in a paper bag and throw it in the trash........................then all of it will decompose............................Just me and Greta lookin' out for the universe....................
Well, in time tectonic movement of earth crust will eventually recycle everything with molten lava but I agree, use paper bag instead of plastic. 😁

I dump my dirty corn media in my "flower" beds, as well as the strips of paper towell I toss in to catch some of the crud, my roses and tomatoes seem to like it!
I have cleaned my corn media, just wash and dry, but a few years ago a friend gave me a lot of it, so it all goes to the plants now.

Put used media in a bag (paper or plastic), tie it and dump in the regular trash not recycle
Our waste is burned 2K degrees and turned into steam to power turbines to produce electric. Reduce waste by 90% the left over is non toxic ash has the metal pulled out and the rest is used to cover landfill in other counties.

Why anyone would want to dump it (with all the lead and other toxins) in their yard or garden is beyond me.:what:

Our trash also is burned to produce electricity. Kinda lessens the guilt in not recycling.

But I heard the residual ash is highly toxic and includes heavy metals. We ship it across the river to DC. They don’t even know.

Sounds like a bad idea for vegetables. Isn’t there lead residue in used media?

Tell us more about how you clean corn cob media. I’m a tight SOB and like the idea.

I would guess more carbon........................................
But what do I know ?---------I chewed on the lead paint on the windowsills as a lad......!!..............🤪
I see a lot of warnings about lead exposure when vibratory cleaning. The soot from primers contains lead.

What came out of the ground will eventually find it's way back there, back from where it came from more or less.
What concerns me is the nutrients in our food is becoming more depleted.
