Larry, I should be good on timing. The movie is at 11:30, and doubt it's 2.5 hours long. it's playing at Century 16, and then I'll head straight from there to your work. I got your directions and Skyders#. I'll give him a call when I'm on my way.

Wes, Ben's right, he needs more time off work. I feel it's your duty as a friend to come up this weekend, and sleep in the same tent as Ben, in order to make sure he gets sick and gets more days off work...:D

I can't wait. See you guys in 48 hours or less.

Hey guys. I may go if I can sneak away. I'm mostly coming to observe. I don't have a whole lot to shoot. I have an AR and a recently purchased Garand. Anywhere I can get some milsurp 30.06 in Utah before Saturday?

George,
If I go, and you have anything that needs to be taken to Strawberry, I'd be happy to haul it. I'm also in Vernal.

Yeah, Norm(Vanwagnens) has plenty of '06 ammo.

Litefoot, don't worry if you don't have a lot to shoot, come out and hang out anyway. I'm going to be doing a lot of chrono work with a couple of my 44s and a 357, and a little bangin' with my SKS, but thats about it.

I'm staying from friday night until sunday evening, and planning on doing most of the triggertime on saturday. But mostly I'm using this to get a break, and hook up with fellow THR members.

Just got off the phone with VW and he is out of milsurp 30.06. Atc1man, do have a number for the folks in Sandy? Is the name of the shop "Patriot"?
Just a little unclear on your last message. Thanks!

As you might imagine, Mr. Personality at VW (I think you all know who I'm talking about) was remiss to volunteer info on other sources in the area.

Patriot Arms is the shop on Redwood about 70th South. (801) 253-0175
Get Some is pretty new, 72nd south and 7th west.
(801) 562-1222

You might check Gallensons, too. Salt Lake City downtown.
(801) 328-2016

I got a chance to check out 'Get Some'. Nice guys and a good shop. It looks like they are more into the assault rifles and handguns. More of a defense shop. I think they had maybe a dozen hunting rifles and shotguns, the rest was AR-15's, SKS's, and AK's. I was in heaven. I want to go back first chance I get and give a better introduction. (they look new, I wonder if they're hiring? that'd be sweet).

Get Some are pretty cool guys. Diann over at Tight Group (across Redwood from Patriot in the little complex behind the Chinese restaurant) is where I usually go though.

Re: .30-'06 Ammo

"Get Some," just west of Sportsman's on 7200 has lots of good milsurp ammo, and "Tight Group" is another awesome store that has plenty of the same. The people at both places are awesome.

Alright, Ben... I may just have to come up. :D My boss isn't answering her phone :scrutiny: but I'm working on getting the time off. I sure need to see you guys!

I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Wes

Correia and I just went to lunch, here's what we're up to:

We are going to leave 90th south Sandy at 2:00 pm tomorrow. We'll leave you a trail of some sort. If for some reason that doesn't work out I'll definately give the ranger station a heads up. So unless they are unwilling to help(very unlikely), just ask them which way we went. :D

Seriously guys, even if you don't have much ammo or somewhere to sleep come up. I can put at least 4 people(six if needed) in a decent spot to sleep as long as you can supply your own sleeping bag. Even if you're not shooting much come up and hang out awhile. (We need some good group pictures, so come up and get a good mugshot.)

Ahh... Betos. I love Betos. Where else can they slap a whole roast on a tortilla, call it a burrito and only charge you $3.00? :D

skyder and I will be leaving from my job at 2:00. Ben and Crude are going to follow us. Convoy up!

:D Larry, you're my kinda guy. ;) They've got some goooood stuff.

You know what? We need to make some sort of Utah "registry" of good and decent gun shops that are worth supporting. Maybe a nighttime project for the campout?

Wes

Allright. Now I am jealous of you guys that get to head up tomorrow afternoon.
It will be bright and early Sat morning for us.

edited to add. This was my 500th post. :D
I joined this forum on December 30th, 2002. It took me a while to reach 500.

In case any of you guys wondered where Mr. Murphy was today:

He was with me all:cuss: :cuss: :cuss: day!!! Good crud!!!! :fire:

So....... I'll see you all this weekend, I'll unwind a bit, and we'll all have a good time.

Edit: just talked to a guy that just got back from that area, there's a good amount of snow. So dress pretty warm and come up anyway!!!! A couple of us have chains and ropes if you get stuck, and if it's needed we can piggyback you up from the ranger station.

NO CHICKENING OUT GUYS!!!!

Crude and I had a damn good time shooting today. I took some pics and will post them soon.
Yes, we got rained on...and hailed on...but otherwise it was very nice out.

Dress on the warm side.

Wonderful news. :fire:

Instead of coming in early in the morning, my boss had decided to make me come in at NOON and work for the rest of the f#@%ing day. :banghead: :fire:

I can't f@%&ing win.

I'm totally bummed, too -- at work, we just found a case of old Diet Coke dated from 2002 that needs to be thrown out... so I put them in my car so that we could shoot them.

Ain't gonna happen now. :cuss:

12 Volt, will you save a sample of that CLP product for me?

Sorry guys. I think I'm gonna go have a conniption now.
Wes
