Value DIY 1911

Hi. I'm thinking building a 1911 with Caspian frame and slide and match grade parts. I figure it'll cost over $1500 for parts. My friend is helping me, doing most of the work. He has built a half dozen of 'em and shoot 'em in matches with fantastic results.

My question is how much would it be worth after it's been built, if I decide I want to sell it ?

Because I'm weighing building a Caspian vs buying a Less Bear.

Really hard to say for sure, but figure maybe 50%-75% of the raw parts value.

That sounds pretty reasonable.

My friend is helping me, doing most of the work.

Of course, if your friends name is John Harrison, Wayne Novak, Ted Yost, Jason Burton, etc, it would be worth more.

Priceless. I will never sell the first 1911 I built myself. My son and I both shoot it and its a generational gun in my opinion. I know that it is one that he will cherish since he watched me build it and knows what it means to me..
