Not sure how do this other than: How about experienced reloaders who want to help new reloaders in person/phone, post their location/PM phone number to those who ask, and see if they can help out. I'm sure a lot of new equipment is in the hands of new relaoders who could really use the help, and would appreciate the guidance from old reloading dogs. A PM, or reply to this thread would seem to be able to get the ball rolling.

As for me, I'm NE of Pittsburgh PA, in Westmoreland County between New Ken and Plum (near the Alcoa Tech Center).

Whadya think?

It's kind of a risky proposition. I've had contact with some really great people and helped them with some of their reloading concerns, but I made the mistake of giving my phone number to one guy on another forum who turned out to be a flaming flake. He forced me to get caller ID, just so I could screen my calls.

Something you might want to consider.............

Hope this helps.

"Whadya think?" Well, your heart's in the right place but I sorta think that's at least a part of what these web forums are for. ??

I've made that offer a few times, but haven't found anyone local. I'm always up to share what I know and my equipment, so if you are close, pm me.

What if someone signs on as a "Senior Reloader" & gives bad advice? At least in an open forum someone will catch it. Plus in open forums you learn of the many ways to accomplish a task.

How many times have things been said out of context. IE: Carbide dies don't need lube. Well that is true and it isn't dpending on context.

Some guys don't know rifle stuff. Some guys don't know casting. and it goes on and on.

Then there is the whole "Flake Factor" - which is a 2 way street.

- - Sort of OT but an example on one board:
Anyone Wanting Ammo...

My wife is considering going into the reloading business, of course that means me,lol. So i thought i would find out if there is any market for High Quality reloads, i currently load ammo to very high standards, with my powder to the .01 and my sizing to the .0001 , i have very good groupings at normal ranges. All my reloading is by hand each cartridge, i dont use a progressive loader, it isnt accurate enough.

This wouldnt benefit the mass ammo shooters as much, as they can buy bulk ammo for less than i can load. However anyone wanting hunting, or match target ammo would benefit as i believe the prices would run as follows..

.223 - new brass loads- 55 gr Hornady v-max ---$20
.270 - new brass loads- 130 gr Hornady v-max sst---- $22
.308 - new brass loads- 168gr Hornady match sst --- $22

etc etc... of course if u supply brass it would be 5 or so cheaper.

Im just checking to see if theres an interest here. I can assure you, youll get a better grouping with my ammo.

I've loaded some for others but only mid-range loads and I get their gun during testing to test it in. I have showed a few folks how to load themselves using my equipment and have another guy coming by tonight for his first lesson. :) I do try to be as unbiased as to color, but realistic upon their budget as possible. I also advise them on getting a couple of books and researching on forums like this for a second opinion or more advice. Like most of us, I am well aware of my limits and have no problem saying I don't know, but I know where to find out. I'll open the loading room to anyone willing to learn, so long as they make it through the safety meeting.

I know how you feel Galil5.56. I've seen some pretty scary scenario's from new and even supposedly experienced reloaders posted here.
My thoughts parallel some others here, and I feel the open forum is the "safer" approach.
I know that often I'll go out of my way to help with data, and draw on my own experience, if it will give another reloader a heads-up.
It's also nice to have other experienced reloaders available to confirm or refute information that you give. A little safety valve if you will.
I like it that way.

Well, for me it's enough to fill out my profile properly so that my location shows up in the bar to the left. That way people can PM me if they are in my area.

OR

We could make it easy on everyone and post RCMODEL's home phone number! :D

I feel ya wobbly. whether rcmodel knows it or not, he pretty much single-handedly taught me how to reload. If I ever meet the guy, I owe him a big fancy lunch.

After developing a rapport with a guy who seemed to make sense in his posts, I asked him to come over and show me. We had pizza and I gave him a set of grips to make it worth his while.

He saved me lots of time in setting up my stuff.

I'm open to sharing what I know. (PM me to set something up)

Located just north of Sacramento (Marysville actually).

Load rifle, pistol, and shotgun. Have a bit of reading material too if you feel like homework. ;)

I am always looking for new shooting partners too.

Like said above, your heart is in the right place but then again... I spent most of my life in NY City so I don't trust anyone. I would not be comfortable giving out my personal information to anyone on a forum.

I'm in central IL. I am no expert, but I sure like to shoot and hang out with people that do. If anyone is looking for someone to hang out with and reload with, me and my buddies are always looking for more friends.

PS. Be sure to include what kind of cool guns you have in the pm. And possibly a pic of your wife/girlfriend.

SW Wa state here, glad to share my knowledge whenever I can.
I do think sharing info here is one of the best ways to do it though.

Wouldn't the wife be surprised !

Bullseye308: For all the good [RCModel has] done here we should pitch in and send him a cow and a grill.

I read that, and I thought it said we should pitch in and send him a cowgirl. I was rolling on the floor, laughing at myself when I re-read it. I really need those glasses checked.

"Getting old" is really.... well, getting old ! :D

I give my phone number out to very few but have offered many times for people to come over and try my press before they buy one to see if they like it and have never had any takers.

I'd love to get me some of those Cowgirls!

But my wife would shoot me with my biggest gun! :D
