Finally got around to this, my first attempt at it. I may redo it because it looks like I twisted the paracord in places. I am not sure how much it will really cushion the stock but maybe during the two months a year that it gets cold here it will insulate my face!

ETA: Material is by Paracord Planet purchased on Amazon. Color is rust. Youtube video linked in another VZ2008 thread: www.youtube.com/watch?v=is8eIP3V9Qg

How do you like the VZ? I just bought one myself, I'm less than 5 magazines fired through it at this point. So far, I like it. The accessories were crap though.

I really like the gun. Century screwed up the front sight pretty bad which I am in the process of fixing. Other than that, no real complaints for what I paid. Shoots decent groups, just 6-10" away from where the sights are looking when maxed out on adjustment. That's at 50 yards. I might just consider a microdot at some point provided there is a mount. I haven't given up on fixing the irons yet.

Welcome to the addiction. Mako group and Zahal have some good choices in furniture for it, and there are more than one replacement upper forearm that will allow for an optic mount - this is mine with Zahal furniture/grip and Bushnell TRS25 red dot. For an inexpensive dot it works very well.

Another great source for parts is CzechpointUSA.

If the stock bothers you you could sleeve it with pipe insulation and duck tape. Seems like a better cushion to me of it is an issue for you. You can get it at Home Depot cheap enough.

Drifting the front sight is a B without a drift tool. I may try a C clamp next.

My accessories were more than acceptable with mine though the tip of the bayonet is bent. I like to think that a young Czech conscript put it to good use. The cleaning kit and mags are top notch. Some of the mags look new.

Looks good, 119er. I did something similar in green paracord with my VZ-2008. My rifle has been very reliable after an initial 200 round break-in period.

If you find the length of pull to be too short, you can add a Soviet-style buttpad to the stock, from FSE-USA (appears to out of production) or a UTG Model 47. It's not "correct" for the rifle but it's very functional.

Looks good to me. That's the same way I wrapped my VZ's folding stock. You don't really need the paracord to "cushion" anything. The recoil is light and there is no cheek slap if you are shouldering the rifle properly. All you need it to do is just keep the sharp edge of the stock off your face.

That's the same way I wrapped my VZ's folding stock.

Yeah, that is the link you posted in another thread when I asked how you did it. Worked great and was simple. My only problem with the stock is when I shoot it from the bench. Getting a bad one from Century just adds to the irritation.

Keep in mind that these rifles were never designed to shoot from a bench. The folding stock of the vz.58 V was designed to make the rifle more compact for use by paratroopers.

You could always install a fixed VZ stock, but they can be a bit pricy.
