Folks,

I took the new gun out today and shot 550 rounds through it, 100 rounds of Winchester ammo and the rest were Brown Bear.

The only thing that i observed was that after shooting the first 15 or 20 rounds, the pin that holds the trigger assembly was half way out... i am a right hand shooter and it was sticking out on the right side of the gun and good thing that i noticed it, otherwise the trigger assembly may have just fallen off...

Has anyone experienced this? Actually the pin does seem to be a little loose... meaning that it has a little play on either side when it is pushed but it does not push out.

How did this happen? Does this pin gets to be taken out when the trigger is in a certain position?

After i pushed the pin back in i shot the 500 or so rounds without any problems. The other thing that i noticed was excess oil coming out of the gun where i had to wipe it a couple of times with a paper towel. Could too much oil be the problem? I did clean the gun and oiled a little bit too much being that it is new.

I have been able to reproduce what happened at the gun range simply following step;
- gun can be decocked or not, it does not matter, pull the trigger back a little while pressing on the pin from the left side of the gun. I am able to push the pin out probably all the way but i am not going to try it.

How this could have happened at the gun range? i may have an idea, if the trigger was in that position say during a recoil, that is the only explanation that comes to my mind...
here are some pictures of what i have attempted:

This is common with the earlier Walther P99s (not just the AS).

If the pin hasn't popped out so the guts are loose, you can shove it back in and superglue it in place.

I have the first generation P99 .40 AS, it was before they even called it the AS trigger. I've put too many rounds through it over the years to count. No issue with that trigger pin. Call S&W customer service and Im pretty sure they will send you a new pin at no charge. I broke the detent pin and lost the detent spring on my rear sight once by accident, they sent both parts to me at no charge.
