You are correct: the Beretta as originally offered had a blued finish. Unfortunately mine wasn't done right and Beretta acknowledged the problem and refinished it under warranty. This was fine for awhile but after a couple of years the rebluing started to have problems so I decided if I was going to pay for this myself I wanted a much more durable finish. Read about Metalife in a gun magazine and contacted Ron Mahovsky about hard chrome plating my Model 70S. I think the price at the time was actually less than if I had the gun reblued. This was all many, many years ago and the gun still looks as good as the day I got it back from Metalife!
