I'd appreciate greatly a URL for a post
explaining why the Firing Line is shutting/has shut
down.
I've heard about it on AR-15 list,
which also mentioned a few others which shut down
(like shooters.com) implying that there is an epidemic
moving through the firearms community like a black death.

Hi, agricultural vessel - welcome to THR! (First time I get to say that... ain't it fun? )

Try here. It's HUGE - 15 pages so far! Everyone (including yours truly) was pretty devastated by the news, but all of us wanted to thank Rich Lucibella for all he's done for the shooting world in general through TFL. This board is being set up, not so much as a "successor" to TFL - there can be only one! - but to carry forward the wonderful work begun there, and in time, I hope, to become just as good (if not better) in its own way.

Basically it seems that Rich was doing so much that he felt that he could not continue to do justice to running TFL. I think that it was a very hard decision for him and probably caused him a lot of anguish. You are free to read his message and see his own words.

So is THR officially up and running? I didn't see a post on TFL, but since I was one of the ones who got misdirected here by mistake a couple of days ago, I've been checking this URL on a regular basis.

I didn't post but a few times on TFL in the couple of years since I found it. I don't know that I'll post that much here either, but if THR is anything like TFL, I'll at least be a frequent lurker. I'm very greatful to Oleg and whoever else was involved in continuing the spirit of TFL!

Hi, and welcome to your new Web home! The address www.thehighroad.org should be permanent. As for gear, see the "Firearm Accessories" forum. If the gear component grows to be bigger than the accessories, we'll look at dividing this into two separate forums. (Same situation with Handguns - we'll look at dividing it into Revolver and Semi-auto if demand warrants it.) In the beginning, we're looking to keep things as simple as possible.
