Went out and shot some Sellier Bellot through my 590a1 today.

selleier bellot #1 buck. Awful. It caused a feed issue almost every shot. two rounds would come out and at the end invariably i'd find one or two unfired shells on the ground. It's almost certainly because of the weird long crimp. Regardless I picked up 40 rds of this junk from Cabelas and shot it all up. The 100 rds of Federal 7.5 fed flawlessly, as did the 10 Remington sluggers I put through it. What is the consensus on the Sellier bellot buck? Is it my gun in particular it didn't like feeding in? Because I've shot it out of a Remington 870 express tactical and it fed a lot better. But on the other hand, the same Remington 870 express would snag on almost every shot with the Winchester 7.5. I don't expect the best ammo in the world but I'd definitely avoid the Sellier Bellot. the pattern was a good 6-7 inches wide at 25 yards, lol.

Sure wish I knew what ammo I have stored up that's not going to feed right so I could get rid of it. I have a lot of Federal though...I'd have to rate Federal's crimp/dimensions as my favorite right now. I have never really had a snag with it...Anybody had any problems with the Winchester mil spec? it probably doesn't throw out a phenomenal pattern but it seems like it found feed really well.

I've only used S&B 00 and it seemed fine, I didn't even know they made a #1B load until now. It sounds kind of weaksauce anyway since their's seems to only give you 12 pellets in a 2.75" load. 6 or 7 inches at 25 yards is not bad though, if that's a typo and it's 25 feet then not so much.

it was a typo, good looking out. 25 FEET. lol. I shot a large paper plate and the spread literally spanned the plate length wise, with some of the pellets on the left side on top of each other.

It's still not bad actually, #1 buck doesn't tend to pattern all that well unless you get lucky. One of my guns will drop 16 pellets into maybe 10" at 25 yards but the others are happier with other loads. It starts to look a little weak over 20 yards anyway IMO so I don't worry about patterning at a distance too much.
