Well was supposed to meet my shooting buddy at the gun club today to shoot a few rounds of skeet but forgot that they were having the pre-state registered skeet tournament. So we decided to shoot the 100 bird sporting course that they refurbished this spring and neither of us had shot. The reason my friend started shooting skeet with me was because he was getting less than 50% on sporting clays.
Pretty warm today, 85 degrees sunny and muggy but at least there was no mosquitoes. We alternated starting each station and made our way through all 15 stations for 100 birds. Most stations could be shot with skeet chokes with a few where I/C worked the best and one or two that a light mod would of been handy. I kept a skeet choke in lower barrel and an I/C in the top, buddy had a pair of skeets. We were both shooting 7/8oz 12 gauge loads of 8.5's and doing well, he ended up with a 74 which he was very happy with and I had a 91. There was rabbit targets, standard, midi's, minis, and battues for an interesting combination of presentations. There were some devious target set ups that really made you look and think. Would of liked to have a third or fourth member to shoot with to give the starter shooter a chance to watch the targets more.
All in all a nice fun day at the range, just got to be sure to wipe my gun down with all the sweat that was on it.
