Were Black Friday Sales Less Impressive This Year?

I only do internet black friday and some deals were okay... but not great.

I still managed to spend more than I should have, mostly on steel targets and ammo.
Shootsteel.com had a 25% off sale and I grabbed quite a few 1/2" x 6" steel targets.

the only thing I bought was some projectiles from xtreme bullets , 20% off and free shipping other then that I did not see any deep discounts on anything I wanted

Yup that was the one I took advantage of. 2000 45 ACP and 3750 9mm.

My local mom and pop chain store had some decent deals like savage axis heavy barrel with cheap scope for under $250 after rebates, m&p shield deals and some ammo deals but nothing that I wanted. I was very disappointed in cabelas deals just a couple bucks off Hornady, some ammo, cabelas clothes had like 20% off but still overpriced. I wanted some of the cabelas base layers and got a $69 pair of bottoms for $39 and 80% merino wool socks for $9.

I was hoping for some reloading deals on bullets, powder, primers but nothing locally. Was really hoping cabelas would have put their winter hunting clothes on sale but no such luck. Walmart didn't have that great of deals either surprisingly. I did want to take advantage of the RMR deals and the extreme deals but $ is really tight so ill just buy when I need some instead of stock piling.

Last year I stocked up on 9mm. Remmington had a $5 per box of 50 rebate, I bought 40 boxes for $6 per box including shipping. There was nothing close to that this year.

Bought zip, nada, nuttin!
Disappointed.

Waited till today for free shipping on items already on sale from MidwayUSA.
Mostly stuff I need anyhow.

Omg where did you see that?
Was it a 2.0? If so that was a killer deal, if not it was a really good deal.

Wish I’d have seen it

A friend forwarded me the add from a place in Maine. Unfortunately it was in store only pricing I believe.

The day before Thanksgiving at Bass Pro they had the $199.99 Remington 870 Express (after rebate), $.20 a round WWB 124 gr 9 mm, and Kimber Micro 9s for $500 and $600 with Crimson Trace. I went with a friend and stood with nice people for 8 hours for my friend to get his 870. The LGS had a nicer version of the $500 Kimber for the same price online Friday (wood grips).

Not a lot of truly great deals anywhere this year. Several years ago on Cyber Monday I got my Canon T2i with lens (current is T6i) plus a 75-300 lens, a 1TB harddrive and about $1400 total camera stuff for about $850. That was a good day.

I work 2 days a week at Sam's Club for the exercise benefit and their phone deals on Nov 11 were very good and the TV deals unremarkable. Low prices on basic non smart TVs, although UHD 4K prices are down in general.

Now I have to admit that a couple of Cyber Monday deals have peaked my interest.

A Colt LE6920 plus a Glock 43 FDE for $1099.00 delivered looked pretty good - I probably will not pull that trigger, but at least it has me thinking ...

Crazy to think of the 2004 gold rush on LE6920s being higher than that. Markets are interesting markers of history.

The sales were better this year than last. $269 for Strike Eagle 1-8x with mount, Primary Arms Advanced red dot for $69 shipped, Aimpoint Pro for $320 shipped, etc.

Looking through the hundreds(?) of e-mails with 2017 Black Friday Deals, I came away less than impressed this year. Maybe I am just getting older and more jaded and crabbier as I get closer to qualifying for Medicare, perhaps it was because I took advantage of numerous 'deals' in the last year (I have more than one AR15 build waiting its turn at the moment) as sellers unloaded merchandise that became excess inventory when we failed to elect our first woman president, or maybe I am just buying less overall as an aging consumer.

Did others also find the Black Friday 'deals' less compelling this year?

Did you find any deals 'too good to pass up' and what were they?

The news is that nationally background checks completed on Black Friday broke a record. That must mean something.

I can't say I was disappointed. I bought a safe at 25% off, and a fun gun for 30% off the usual price, and it came with 2 free mags!
