What’s that “cheapo” you want but won’t buy?

Hi Point 9mm carbine. They shoot great with a wide variety of ammo, are actually fairly comfortable with the ugly stock, and no other PCC even comes close to being as affordable. I'll buy, someday.

I have a Heritage Rough Rider. With .22lr and .22mag cylinders. My dad bought it about 10 years ago and his health is at the point he can't use firearms anymore, so it was passed down. I've always loved that cheap piece of junk. It's fun to shoot and more accurate than I am. You just have to figure out how to shoot with only a front sight. This one has a great trigger and the action is smoother than most revolvers I've used that are in the $400-600 price range. The only thing I hate is loading and unloading. Those 9 shots go pretty fast when you're having fun plinking.

My Savage Axis is another good cheapo. I bought it used 5 years ago for $225 with a Rifle Basix adjustable trigger and a nice scope mounting rail. I spent $70 on a good bi-pod and $40 on a nice Nikon scope. A guy bought the scope, mounted it, and decided he didn't want a silver colored scope on his hunting rifle. I can be cheap, I have no problem putting a cheap paint job on a scope to knock the shine off.

Cheapo that I might try, Charter Arms revolvers.

Cheapo that I stay away from, anything Taurus. But I'm not going to open that can of worms any further.

For me that was Henry .22 levers. Now I have two but my opinion of them is unchanged.
.... If we define "cheapo" as about $300. or less than my Henry .22 lever gun qualifies. I wouldn't buy one for the longest time but I kept hearing good things about them and the other day they were on sale for about 280 bucks at a local Runnings store. I decided to not buy it but couldn't get it out of my head. So today I broke down and examined one, fondled it, and then purchased it. Hoping this is one of the cheap ones that I will really like. It's going to the range tomorrow. IMG_2678.JPG

I really don't have any cheapo guns in my safe, but for some reason, I really want a Taurus 22PLY.

I don't know why.
I have no need for one.
It will probably never get a lot of use.
It will never be carried.
I would never trust it for anything other than a range plinker.

Still want one.
Don’t do it. I have shot them. Other cheap guns maybe. That one is jamomatic.

For those considering Rock Island 1911 pistols, go for it. You'll never confuse them with high-end guns, but you won't find a more reliable 1911 for less money.

The cheap gun I ought to buy is a Marlin Model 60. Because you can never have too many .22 rifles.
And a Hi-Point carbine. Just because.

I define "cheap" as anything containing zinc alloys.

El cheapo for me would depend on what type. A handgun for $100-150 or a rifle/carbine/shotgun for $200-250 would be my definition.

I have a HRR. For anyone on the fence just get one. Excellent beater SA revolver. I will probably end up with one of their Big Bore SA now that I know where to find them.

I also have an Axis that I paid $200 for. I did buy a trigger kit for it but it was still under $250. For the money it's a great rifle.

I don't currently have a wish list for another cheapie, although these used TriStars I've been seeing at one LGS have piqued my interest somewhat. I believe they are imported all metal SA 9mm but don't really know anything about them.

It would probably a Heritage Rough Rider. Wouldn't mind another single action .22 but just can't see me getting one, especially when I have a Ruger Single Six to compare it to.

Anything from Hi-Point.

I cured myself of impulse buys on cheapos years ago. I would like another H&R partner for my truck to match the one in the jeep though.

Every now & then I get a hankering for a Leinad single-shot. Won't buy one online - the shipping and transfer fees would double the price.
They now have a really weird revolver. Looks like it’s manually rotated and the cylinder comes out of the barrel. Just weird enough to be interesting. But then again it’s still stamped steel plates welded together with sewer pipe for a barrel (also welded) this is one where I’m with you. $75 is fine, but I’m not paying $75 for the gun, 20 shipping, 25 transfer. The gun might be a novelty worth playing with at 75, but not at 120.

Probably one of those $99 shotguns from WalMart.

I need to resist this, though, as every time I buy a cheapo, I start to spend money to modify the damn thing (optic, custom stock, trigger job--you name it)--so I end up with the world's most expensive cheap gun.

If I get focused on one, occasionally, I go for it. My favorite is my SAR B6PC. Accurate and never missed a beat @ a price less than $275 including tax & FFL.

Has to be a Hi Point pistol caliber carbine. .380 ACP or 9 mm. Under $300 and they get good reviews. I want one but just can't see me buying a Hi Point.
Same thing but a Hi Point 10mm but just can`t bring myself to do it cause then I would have to get a Glock 20 then a G29 and the reloading stuff for 10mm.

Depending on your cost definition - something from Kel-tec. Mainly the PMR, CMR, Sub2k, or KSG that my LGS is pushing. There's interest for a while and I'll maybe watch a few YT videos about it. After a little while though, I just can't bring myself to purchase it. These were so coveted and in demand due to low production only a few years ago. The "wouldn't it be cool, if..." just gets drown out by "what would I even use that for?"
