What’s that “cheapo” you want but won’t buy?

I want a Jennings 22! I can’t help it. But I’m too embarrassed to buy one online & have it go thru my LGS. I’d want to go out of town so no one I know would see me buy it. Still, assuming I could get one that’s not a jammomatic, I’d laugh and laugh shooting it at the range.

Like others the Heritage Rough Rider with the bird's head grip looks attractive.

Yep. Both of my HRR guns are downright hard to put down once in hand, especially the 3.5-inch birdshead, which is pretty much my "yard gun." Paid $150 for it with both cylinders through a Taurus "blem sale." Still not sure of the "blem."

I really want a P85. Can't justify the cost of a used gun without a warranty. Cheaper to buy new. I am looking at a Security 9.
As long as Ruger has parts in stock, they will take care of you. I've written to them asking to buy a replacement part that I lost when cleaning the gun - it dropped on the floor and vanished. They sent me a new part for free. That's what they do, and why people love Ruger customer service.

Cheap 1911's (RIA, Charles Daly etc) I just know it would have issues and I would end up spending more than it costs trying to make it function 100%.

It was all I could do to spend $600+ on a Kimber with their reputation and service but at least I know a Smith that could likely put it right without doubling the price. Thankfully I got a good one.

Personally, I wouldn’t worry about a warranty on an older pistol. The P85 is a very robust handgun. I am the second owner of this one, I am friends with the original owner and neither one of us ever had any problems with it.

I would be more concerned about the reliability of a new pistol in the same price range.

I wouldn't worry about Ruger Pguns. They rarely break. Got my P944 (1995 model)for $295. It will last forever.

I have a mild hankering for a Chiappa Double Badger. I won’t buy a new one, but if I stumble across a used one I might go for it.
