What amount of magnification is required to make 1moa hits?

When I was a kid I could shoot one MOA with my '06 with a Weaver K2.5 on top. That was before coffee nerves and trifocals, so five-shot groups weren't all that big a deal.

I was seriously wanting light weight when I set up my 700 Ti, and used a Weaver V3. Was able to hold 3/4-MOA for three-shot groups when sighting it in.

About the only centerfires I've shot with irons have been Garands and GI Carbines. I can hold about two MOA with my Garand--well, used to, anyhow. :)

Here's a tip for you!

Turn the gain down on your EoTech until you only have enough brightness to barely see the dot.
It makes a huge differance when shooting groups.

5-Shot groups at 100 yards with an EO on a Colt Carbine.

No, I can't shoot 9/16" 100 yard groups with an EO on demand, but certainly can on occasion when load testing.

what magnification is needed to make varmint shots at up to 150 yards??? (as in to see them lil critters that far out)

A gopher 150 yards away through a 4x scope appears to be only about 38 yards out.

Can you see a gopher 114 feet away?

Sure you can!
Many yards are bigger then that.

All you need to shoot 100 to 300yds is a 4-12 power scope but when you site the gun in flip the target over so the black is backwards then with a black marker make large dot in the middle of paper about the size of a dime shoot until its not a problem hitting it then go to200-300
