Just yesterday I received a big envelope from the NRA-ILA seeking my immediate response. Inside there were two post cards addressed to my NY Senators, Chuck Schummer and Kirsten Gillibrand both already signed by me and I was supposed to send them back with, of course, my donation.
This one ended up in the trash and not because I don't support the efforts of the NRA-ILA.
My 2 Senators could be buried in a pile of these post cards asking them to vote no and they would dig themselves out to vote a resounding yes to what ever is proposed as anti gun legislation. You see, I strongly feel it is a complete waste of my time and the NRA's efforts to even attempt to speak rationally to these staunch liberals in my state. They are banging their heads against the walls.
I would rather see the efforts of the NRA to go toward supporting those politicians who are supportive of our efforts. We do have quite a few but just not enough when considering all the weight from the big metro areas such as NY City and the bigger cities. Rural NY is loaded with 2A supporters while the metro areas are highly weighted against. The majority of votes come from where the population is condensed into metro areas. Our efforts should be centered on the rural areas and getting all those folks to the voting booths in all future elections.
