There is a relatively nice one at a local pawn shop I might try to talk them out of, BUT...I was curious on how to date how old it really is. It dates prior to the Cattleman II, I think.
What are the date stamps for Uberti 1873 revolvers?

Mine has 22 in a circle next to the serial number. I bought it new in 2022. Opps just saw "prior to Cattleman II"

Mine (Cattleman II) has a '23' in a circle just above the SN on the frame just forward of the trigger guard. I see no letter codes anywhere on the gun, even under the grips. I bought mine in January this year

BTW, the chart Mayracer posted above is for the Italian proofhouse date code system for all firearms, not just Uberti.
This code will be near the other proofmarks
They're usually on the barrel somewhere -- if all else fails, try looking under the ejector rod.

If it's prior to 2020 I will probably snag it - looked OK at first glance. Trade in a prism scope I don't use and go from there. Thank you very much to everyone posting assistance here, MUCH appreciated!

Had to do something to bring money at wars end, probably barred from making military arms, so why not obsolete guns for US civilian markets? Just guessing.
