Have a SA loaded model that I have been shooting for the past few years. Finally broke the 1k mark on it. Also, finally got around to installing some new grips from 10-8 performance. http://www.10-8performance.com/1911-grip-panels-scoop-5lpi/

In comparison to the factory rubber grips these are VERY aggressive on the hands. I think these would be perfect for inclement weather with large thick gloves. So I'm looking at ditching these for something else. I wear small gloves, so small hands. What do you smaller handed people like on your 1911?

P.S. I picked the 10-8 grips based purely on looks. Big mistake there LOL.

P.P.S. I just realized it may be misconstrued that I am looking at grips for glove wearing, I am not. We rarely if ever get glove season here in TX. And I'm not shooting much outdoors in the winter months. Just commenting that those grips would be awesome for thick glove wearers.

Check out VZ grips. They have a HUGE selection of textures to choose from in the 1911. Everything from super aggressive to standard 1911 grips.

I have VZ's Simonich Gunner's on 3 of my 6. So I supposed it would have to be those. They are extremely aggressive and great when dealing with sweating in hot and humid gulf coast TX. Not for use on a carry gun unless you like the cheese grater feel...

I like thin grips and use VZ as well as verrry happy with Sarge's grips.

I have a black custom 1911 coming and so far have bought mammoth ivory grips, elk horn grips and have a set of Larry Davidson's Horned Lizards coming in black/gray. See his grips at www.davidsonknives.com - you have to email him about what you want.

I like Ahrends cocobolo combat grips (no diamonds). They have the traditional look and feel great.

Those are some nice looking grips fellas. I saw one recommendation for the slim aluminum ones. Why do you like those for shooting? By the way, my fingers are way too small for the Hogue wrap around grips.

I generally like checkered wood double diamond grips. Currently, I have Hogue double diamonds in ebony on my 1911.

Hogue http://www.hoguestore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=734_50_184&products_id=935

I would like to try VZ Gatorbacks, and I'll guess at some point I'll give them a try.

I'm somewhat of a 1911 traditionalist, and while I'm not much of a fan of rails or bobtails, but to my eye at least, nothing looks worse on a 1911 than finger grove wrap arounds. In addition, nothing changes the sleek handling characteristics of a 1911 more than those finger groove wraparounds.

I like the alumagrips middle-rough checkering for grip, and I find that a slimmer gun fits my hand best.

I think the picture I posted above is of a most-rough checkering, where the raised bits make points.
The ones I use most have the raised bits making flats, like this:

Carry comfort with the slim grips is a plus, also.

The diagonal half-checkered ones are nice as well.

For years it was the Hogue wrap around because it fits my hand so well. Recently I ordered a Pierce rubber finger grooved thingy that fits under the regular grips and gives you a similar finger groove grip. I'm currently sporting some walnut panels over them. Looks AND function.

I have rosewood grips on my kimber, hogue makes them they are not to slippery I've used the gun in a recent Idpa match and I was surprised by the grip. I do have large hands though?

For comfort, nothing beats the Hogue wraparound monogrip in my opinion.

For looks, on a stainless gun I think some VZ grips in black, or some horn grips are best
On a blued/black gun, I like the look of a good burl. Maple, walnut.
