I've never had a turnbolt rifle before (except for old military guns) and I picked a neat one at a show. It's a Remington 700 308 with a shorter barrel (20") and no magazine floorplate.
It seemed pricey buy the seller said it was a carbine model from the first year the 700's were introduced. I liked the gun an bough it.
The date code puts it at either 1962 or 1989. It has a 5 digit serial number so I'm inclined to believe the former. I can't find any specific info on carbine models, though.
Any insight? It has a period -appropriate Weaver V9B scope on it.
