What did you shoot today?

42 rounds through my 2020 Colt python this morning after cleaning the Club's range.
My cast ~158 grain bullets powered by some old H240 and much fresher 2400.
The H240 was touched off by some CCI 550 primers from the '70's.
The 2400 was touched off by modern CCI 550 primers.

I could hardly tell the difference.
(I do not own a chronograph)

Had fun but need more practice.
Haven't shot this revolver since November 26th of last year.
Round count for this handgun
purchased in September of 2021 is now at 581 rounds.

Should be broke in by now, if not by the round count............time. :(

The Czechpoint VZ-58 chambered in 7.62x39.

The bright, rich tones of the reddish furniture are thanks to seven layers of Fast-Dry Polyester by Minwax.

Small cotton patches and Q-tips allow Extremely Simple application.

Don’t risk (!) over-tightening the large Screw/bolt in the butt stock.
You can easily put Poly on the furniture while attached to rifle…hence Q-tips for all edges Near The Metal.

Got to my local indoor AC range and ran a magazine full through my old S&W 59 to see if the sights were closer and they are near dead on now. Maybe one or two clicks more but that's about it. Can't quite remember why I put it away for so long but I still enjoy shooting both it and my 469 compact far more than the Shield 2.0 9mm. Next I'll try IWB carry with it and see how that goes.

And yeah, I know it looks like it says 69 but I assure you it is not a S&W 69.

30 rounds through my 8.375" S & W 460 this morning before it got too warm

A load of IMR 4227 touched off by a Federal LMR primer pushing old stock 240 grain XTP's.

Not many people have used the range since Monday when I was last there.

Just. Too. Darn. Warm!
Yes, central WI is warm too. Are the 460 loads hot or cool? 30 rounds of stout magnum loads even out of the big X frame is a handful :)

Funny you should ask. (about the temperature)
I'm in the garage right now and am not going in to the house to the reloading room to check ballistics as I do not have a chronograph or a book out here in the shop.
If memory serves me correctly, the load of 42.5 grains of 4227 is between 1800 and 1900 fps with that 240 grain bullet.
Warm, but not hot.
When I got home to the garage this morning and opened the case, the revolver was still warm to the touch after 20-30 minutes from my last shot.

The most rounds I have shot in one outing was 55.
Of course now, the breaks between sessions are a bit longer .......
That was a couple of years ago when I was much younger!

Yesterday morning I ran seven mags worth of blasting ammo (700gr AP pull downs over 215gr H50BMG) through my new GM6 Lynx. The new Limbsaver recoil pad saved me from any bruises, whereas the original factory hard 'rubber' pad did painful damage in three rounds. Recoil is still rather robust though. The added folding front foregrip really helped control the gun and keep it snug to my shoulder. Kept all rounds in a 4" circle @100yds shooting off the bench with the bipod, so I'm happy.

My VZ-58 is basically identical. The PTR-91 which I own is the US clone of this HK-91 ("G-3"). These hobby shooters are in Slovenia (south of Austria), and often fly to Shot Show in Las Vegas.o_O

My Imbel SAR-4800 is identical with the rifle in this image. Today hit a 200-yard (14"? square) gong part of the time...uncorrected vision, 67 year-old eyes.

I've never owned any type of scope. This means exactly what it says, and I pray that this can continue.

Had to look up the rifle. A bullpup 50cal? Looks like a fun one.

I got to shoot my Black Mamba today and played with some different ammo.

First up was Federal AutoMatch. Out of 200 fired I had 9 failure to fires and 4 of those would not fire the second time around.

Second I tried my old reliable, CCI Blazer. 200 rounds and kept them all in the X ring of a Bianchi target out to 15 yards.

Finally I tried CCI Mini Mags. I only had 50 with me but they were by far the best groupings I had.

I normally run CCI Blazers for practice and competition but I thin I'll try Mini Mags for my next outing/ D405CCD0-01FA-4F59-8EAE-3DF81BC611B2.png
