What did you shoot today?

At Three Brother’s Gun Club near Fairhope AL (my brother is a member):

-my Czech VZ-58 and PTR-91.
Hit the 200-yard ‘profile’ gong pretty easily with both; “Thump”.

-my brother’s Red Dot on his Ruger AR makes it even easier- but I prefer iron sights because they challenge my brain in different ways

I started my trip to the range this morning on a sour note, the electrical system in my sons car suddenly took a dive and it conked out about three blocks from the range. :(

Got it towed to the repair shop, got a ride home (with my “surveying equipment” in the case, don’t want to advertise that I have guns), grabbed the truck, loaded back up and went shooting.

I had a goofy mix of my SA 1911 .45, Glock 19X 9mm, Ruger Blackhawk .44 Special and two .22’s, a Birdshead Wrangler and a S&W .22/.32 kit gun (Model 34).

Man, I have GOT to stop anticipating the shot, it is driving me nutso. I would shoot at 5, then out to 10, then 15 and back to 10 and finish at 5 trying yo be smooth and consistent.

I would put 3 in one hole, drop one, then the 5th back in the hole. I would shoot one center, one high, two center, one low, etc. :fire:.

The sights on the IMG_1828.jpeg IMG_1829.jpeg IMG_1838.jpeg .22’s were tough to see indoors, I was happy enough at 10 yds with those guns. :)

Stay safe.

Got to remember that definition.
Sorry about the break down!
No worries. The Lexus is 14 years old, 115,000 miles with a 4.5 year old battery, I guess it’s about time the alternator and battery was replaced. :)

I carry my ammo in a plain backpack, my handguns in a generic harbor freight knock-off pelican case and my targets in a blueprint tube. So, I can portray the surveyor/engineer part (to those who aren’t in those professions) in a pinch like this one.

Stay safe.

I was headed out to the range late this afternoon after a yard sale. Walk outside and its raining which, in Central Texas, is not something to complain about in July.

While passing showers won't stop me from the range it did change my selection from some nicer revolvers to some more rugged automatics.

Took my Sig P220 in .45ACP. Nickname is 'Daddy.' Shot about 30 Winchester 230gr FMJs, accurately but a tic right. Then shot some Speer Gold dot 230gr +p, Accurate, a tick more right, and totally awesome. I love that gun. Pretty sure the right is 'just me.'

Next up was my Glock 19 Gen 3 that is now retired to a range gun. A few years ago I changed the spring out but had not fired it since. What a difference that made. It went from a vibrating machine to a nice shooter. Had no idea the old spring was that bad. Shot 50 rounds of Norma 124gr FMJs. Then we all beat it to the cars before the rains came again.

The other dude at the range was shooting a .45-70 revolver one handed(impressive) while his buddy was on his hands and knees combing for brass. Nice fellas.

All in all a solid A at the range.

Well, it was yesterday, but it was my first range trip in quite a while. Probably 6+ months. Howa Mini and The Rat.

Was the alternator tested and found to be faulty? Normally there would be no need to replace a Toyota/Lexus alternator at only 115K miles. For example, of the three highest mileage Lexus vehicles in my family, one has gone 281K so far, one 240K, and one 178K, no alternator or electrical issues to date.

It wasn't today, but I recently went for a week of visiting family and friends, shooting, and farm work. The following guns made the trip this time. There were a bunch more that wanted to go, but there wasn't room in the van. ;)

1938 Winchester 52 Standard Target*
2008 CZ 452 Lux 22 Magnum
1957 BRNO Model 2
1970 Browning SA-22
1966 Ruger 10/22
2020 Armalite AR-10
1983 Smith & Wesson 586
2018 CZ SP-01
2015 CZ 97B*
1971 Browning Medalist*
2000 Browning Buckmark
1951 Smith & Wesson K-22

* denotes golden child, gets to go on almost every trip :)

Ya, the alternator went south and quit charging. Happens sometimes, I guess. ( I have had a bunch of Toyota products over the years, they all have been great. Still have four of them today; two Lexus ES, a Sequoia and a Scion xB,)

Stay safe.
