What do YOU want the Glock 40 to be...?

That same damn grip is really just lame compared to the competition.

Why does everyone want Glock to change? If you want a 1911, buy one. I don't really care what a specific company does with their guns. If I like them, I'll buy them and if I don't like them I won't. And "compared to the competition," I don't think they have any competition yet. I think the XD and the M&P don't really compete with the Glock. I like the grips on my Colt SAA's better than any Glock, but so what, they are different guns. Glocks are not the end all of guns, but if you don't like them, don't buy them.

I have bought a couple Taurus' that were unique but I don't like Taurus' guns and I don't like the ones I have bought for shooting, consequently, I don't even look at them anymore. But some people like them and find them affordable. Some people find the Glocks affordable and enjoy shooting them.

While your point that people should buy they guns the like, if obvious, is valid the question is what gun you would like Glock to make as well as what "improvements".

A lot of good and interesting ideas in this thread. I'd +1 the suggestion that's already been made of a G19/compact sized 45 ACP and 10mm bridging the size gap between the 20/21 and 29/30.

But I'd also be interested in putting down the money on single stack 9mm Glocks, or Glocks chambered in 7.62x25 or 5.7x28, etc.

I'd really like to see one made of porcelain, but not until they move their factory to Germany of course.

A bonus would be if it cost a month's salary and defeated metal detectors.

The Glock 40 and 41 should be six-inch longslide versions of the Glock 20 and 21, respectively. Additionally, they introduce the new Gen IV frame which makes the Picitanny rail and ambi mag release of the 21SF standard, as well as a new interchangeable backstrap system. Each pistol comes with three backstraps which can be changed out with no more than the same pin punch used to detail the pistol. The small backstrap is about .1" smaller than the SF model in terms of trigger reach. The medium is the same size as the SF. The large is the same size as the original. And each backstrap has a flat side and a round side, and can be flipped over to accommodate the user's preference. The round side keeps the original Glock grip angle, while the flat side makes the grip more approximately match the traditional 1911 grip angle. Finally, these models introduce Glock's new "match" grade barrel, with a polished feed ramp and slightly tighter chamber dimensions, essentially giving the Glock 40 and 41 the same general chamber dimensions and case support as a standard SIG barrel, for example. This feature will be added to longslide Practical/Tactical Glock models first, before becoming standard in all models.

i think they should make a dedicated slim series.
g40 - 9mm
g41 - 40sw
g42 - 357 sig
g43 - 380 auto
g45 - 45 auto

or hell, just for fun:

Glock 50 - .50 action express. :)

In reality expanding the "slimline" models (the G36 with 3.7 inch barrel) to include;

9mm 40S&W & 45 Gap that would all be one grip size and end, of course - with SF.

Glock 40SF 9mm Single stack

Glock 41SF 40S&W Single stack

Glock 42SF 45 Gap Single stack

then you can have the 43 44 and 45 as full size models with the 4.5 or 5.3 inch barrel.

:)
