I haven’t yet today! But I’m finally gonna test my initial loading of 124gr Berrys THP and Unique. And all my Hercules Unique is gone! I’m finally using the newfangled Alliant stuff.
Made (5) each @ 5.0, 5.4, 5.8 and 6.0.

Ive never messed with plated, so I’m running on the conservative side.

Fired my hi power while I was out doing fire mitigation work, to test my loads.
5.4gr of Unique and 124 Berrys is pretty much a match for my standard 5.8/unique/XTP load.
I tested hotter, but had nearly pierced primers at 5.8, so I didn’t even bother testing the 6.0.

Now, back to the bench!

Do you have a back story on that.. That sounds nice.. A conversion?? A photo would be moocho nice...
My father bought it at a gun store in NJ many years ago! There were a bunch of them in a barrel for $65 dollars apiece. He has had it for 45 to 50 years now and I just acquired it from him. It is in it's original wood and shoot nice. Here is a pic. FN 49.jpg

1st that is a flipping beauty.. But I never heard of one in 7.62x54.. Is there a crest on it..??? Do you know what country it was made for..?? and again that is a beauty..

I put 100 rounds through my Shield 40 and 400 rounds through my Ruger Mark IV yesterday. Probably do the same today. That Shield 40 has some snap to it, but pretty easy to hold on target for me. I'm grouping slightly left of where I'm aiming. Any suggestions?

Today I shot .......
.22 S&W Victory
Dan Wesson model 14-1 ( shot .38 specials today)
Savage .223 model 340
And my girlfriends dad brought a repro Winchester .405 ( my shoulder hurts!)

I shot my 617 and the Buckmark today. I was hearing a full auto over at the plinking range and couldn’t resist going to see. A manufacturer had a Glock 18 with a stock of his design. He said that he wished they hadn’t run out of 9mm so I could have a turn.

Then his friend said there was 6 rounds left and they very kindly loaded them up and let me shoot it. First round was semi auto, he realized the selector wasn’t set to full and corrected. Next 5 rounds sure went fast! It was a cool experience and that little sucker was harder to control than I expected.

Hi...
Went to the gun club with my son today.
Lot of rounds downrange on steel.

Shot 20 rounds through each of five .357Magnum revolvers...my 686 Silhouette Model, two Colt Troopers, my 4-5/8" Blackhawk and my son's S&W 66.
Twenty rounds through both of my BlackHawk .41Magnums and my Model 57.
Ran twenty five rounds through my S&W 1917 .45AutoRim.
Then I dug out my Stainless steel Virginian Dragoon, Dan Wesson stainless, Super Blackhawk and Model29 and ran 20 rounds of .44Magnum through each of them.
After that I shot 20 rounds through both of my flat top BlackHawks in .44Spl, my Taurus 441 in .44Spl and my Uberti SAA clone in .44Spl.

Finished up the revolver shooting by shooting 10 rounds through my Dan Wesson .375SuperMag.

Last thing I shot was my son's H&K semi auto rifle in .22LR. Ringing steel out to 25 yds with that rifle is so easy it really isn't fair.
One 25 round mag in no time flat...shooting steel at 7, 15 and 25 yds with zero misses.

No .semi auto pistols today and strangely no .45Colt(mostly because I never got around to reloading any this past week).

Still...a very good day. DA drills with the DA revolvers went very well out to 25yds.

None.

And when I did teach my sons how to shoot (with assistance from their grandfather who was a career officer having served in WWII, Korea and Vietnam) involved proper stock placement, the establishment of an an adequate "cheek weld" and establishment of a proper sight-picture. At the end of the first day, my younger son was shooting groups that could be covered by a quarter (in some cases a dime) at 100 yards.
