The only person who should be picking out a gun for your wife is your wife.

Put another way: The last person who should be picking out a gun for your wife is you. Well, make that you and everyone else who hangs out on this forum.

Take her to a range, let her fire away with a variety of makes and models, and whatever she decides is right for her is going to be the right gun for her ... or at least until it's time to get the next one.

A remi 870, in 20 guage loaded w/ # 4 buck shot. She cannot miss!!!!!!!!!

sorry, that's a very common misconception.....at room distances, the pattern is maybe fist-sized - still easy to miss a target that is moving.

no matter what weapon SHE chooses, she needs to practice to become proficient......

If she's not going to carry, a 20 gauge shotgun. Semi, preferably.

If she wants a pistol, not you, then she needs to get what fits her so that the nearly nonexistent level of training she's going to put in won't be completely wasted. That means she has to find out what points naturally for her so that it is comfortable and more accurate.

if the wife is the one to use the gun..........then she should be the one to choose the gun

got to get to the range and rent several guns to shoot............when she finds the one she likes..............get your wallet out

but it doesnt stop there..............at least once a month get back to the range to practice............you cant just wait until its necessary to use the gun and expect to be comfortable and accurate with it

also where are you going to keep the gun around the house...........it needs to be readily accessable but invisible to the kids............this is a big responsibility

My wife tried just about every handgun in our safe except for my two 629s. She finally settled on a Beretta 96D, a former PA State Police firearm that I had picked up at a local shop. It is smooth, accurate, and holds 11 rounds of .40 cal. She shoots it very well in spite of the large grip. For some reason, the 96D is a very soft shooting pistol, and she is comfortable with it even though it's a large handgun.

Do you conceal that IWB or do you use a nemesis pocket holster?
