Cast 1800 124gr 9mm which are 128gr as dropped.
It was quite an ordeal to get there.
I converted the Master Caster over to 9mm from 45 and ran 350 flawless bullets until the machine ate another proximity sensor.
That's the 3rd one in less than a week.
Instead of repeating my mistakes I relocated the sensor and made a whole new bracket to get the sensor into position.
I'm now confident that my sensor issues are over.
Since I had everything disassembled and back to room temperature I decided to remove a small burr from the bottom of the sprue plate which was causing some scratches on the top surface of the mold
I put everything together, got everything to temp and let'er rip making 1400 bullets in a little over 2 hours.
When I started to look at the 1400 bullets I didn't like what I saw.
A vertical notch from the base of the bullet up through both bands.
I won't bore you with the details but I made 10 different adjustments, cleaned the mold 4 times.
Tried bare metal, sooted, and a graphite coating before getting the bullets to come out perfectly again.
The defective bullets were tossed back into the pot to make the new ones.
Another thing that is interesting to note is that you can fit about 6,000 124gr 9mm bullets into a 50cal ammo can.
It will also weigh in at around 105lbs.
