What have you done in the reloading room today

Finally found some Large Rifle Match primers. Loaded up some 6.5 C/M with 39.5 grs. of IMR4350 pushing some 140 gr.Berger's. Can't wait to try them out.

I’m using my reloading bench to wrap Christmas presents and to work on a woodworking project. (My pellet stove is currently on the blink in the shop) I did swing through Scheels this morning in the process of some Christmas shopping, and guess what they had in the cabinet? I made use of a couple gift cards I had, and it cost me three dollars out of my pocket :) after the gift cards that is. It’s nice to see a couple more pounds on the shelf.
I was in South Dakota last week, had a chance to visit a Scheel's, what a treat! (I'm in California) Yes, they had Varget but I'm sitting on 8lbs. The people, the choices, the friendly help was amazing. You could follow my son and I by the trail of drool we left behind.

SCORE!!!

You got me Varget for Christmas?

Just be aware, for you Varget moonies... I was at my LGS yesterday and they had 3 cases of 8# Varget. No, it was not cheap... but... it was cheaper than the 8# H4350 setting next to it. I am astounded by the costs of IMR powders these days...

Well its not all that money spent on r and d.

Been shooting a lot of 22lr lately, so I've been making 'golf ball' targets. Lotsa fun pinging/swinging them up/around at the Range. :)

I like Scheels. They’re much more customer friendly than most other stores I visit. More LGS feel with most of the guys(and gals) here locally. Might shoot you a PM. SD is my home state.

My fever headed back up last night. So my Sunday plans have changed from church etc to laying around feeling like something you don’t wanna step in. I did go down and pull my 23 Hodgdon periodical off the shelf in my reloading room and bring it upstairs to my chair. I’m trying to get my Mauser back together so I’m putting together data for 250-3000/250’savage again. I’m gonna try 110 gr eld-x with H4350. I went and got the hard copy because I thought it had data for staball match. Nope. Nothing for the cartridge.

We do this every once in a while as well, it's a WHOLE LOTTA FUN!!!! 9mm from a carbine will take em out pretty quickly though!
I have a friend who’s family does 500yd competitions in their pasture shooting them off fence posts

Took apart the powder level and low primer devices on the used XL650 I bought to see why they weren't working. Alkaline batteries were still installed and had leaked everywhere.

Soaked everything in white vinegar for a couple hours and scrubbed off all the deposits. Soaked it all in a baking soda solution to neutralize the vinegar, blew it dry, and WD-40'd everything.

The microswitches on each sensor were bad, so ordered a couple on E-Bay @ $2.45 each. The buzzer on the primer level sensor was bad, and found one of them for $6.00.

Probably could have gone to Dillon for the "no BS" warranty, but figured this wasn't normal wear or a manufacturing defect. I'll eat the $12 to repair the sensors.

My low primer alarm did the same. I felt guilty calling Dillon but I did and had a new one in a few days

I've got a yen to shoot the NEF 357 Mag since it came back from getting the muzzle threaded.

To that end, I found a small batch of R-P brass; 69 pieces. I tumbled, decapped and sized, then length-trimmed the batch. It's back in the tumbler for the final cleaning.

I know that some don't bother with trimming, but I'm going to dedicate this brass to use just with the NEF. It will probably never get another trim before it's worn out and tossed.

I'm thinking something under full power. I've got some 358156 all cast, sized, checked, and lubed, along with several pounds of HS6, which sounds almost like a plan.

I feel guilty when I call them also. I lost a pin out of my Dillon seating die (my fault) and couldn't find a replacement on their website. I called them and had a new pin in about 4 days no charge. I told them it was my fault and would pay but they would have no part of that.

Deprimed the brass from my short range trip.

Staball HD/Rem 9-1/2's/162 ELDX shot GREAT! sub moa 5 shot group, 3027fps ES11/SD5. I worked this load up with Fed LRM primers, and had to try it with the Remington's. Both shoot pretty well!

I did a little more shooting with the 6 ARC with a suppressor. Still shoots great groups (as small as I can shoot). But with the lower temps(30°) velocity was down about 40fps from last time I chronoed them (78°).

Cleaned up .38 Special brass from the range trip, loaded up another 50 rounds after. Also brought the 3D printed black powder real life cursed gun to the range; Had to mix up some more Ballistol moose milk for it's bath. Premeasured some more charges for the next range trip for that one as well.

I’m STILL trying to use the last of my bottle of W231. I ran through another 300 rounds of 9mm and have enough left for maybe 50 or more. I shouldn’t complain. That’s why I bought it after all. It doesn’t hurt the minimum load is also the most accurate usually.

I’ve been powder poor for rifles lately too. After some miscalculations on current stock, I went to the LGS and accidentally nearly tripled my supply of Shooters World Match Rifle. I may have to do a couple of load tests for 55 grain FMJ in both full and target velocities. There wasn’t any Tactical Rifle or AR Plus to be found though.

I’m STILL trying to use the last of my bottle of W231.

After my last round of .45ACP loading, I think I have about 50 rounds of it left in the bottom as well.

I know W231 is a good, versatile powder, but it doesn't really fit with what I like to load... so I'll be glad when it's done and gone. Funny story... back during the Obama Drought, when I was running low on Unique, I finally found a full case of 10x 1# cans of W231, and quickly whipped out my wallet. About a month later, BassPro notified me Unique was back in stock... which is always what happens. I wound up selling 8 pounds of the W231, but kept the last 2. Now, after 10+ years, I'm down to the crumbs.

Thank Heavens I found W231 first... and not a case of TiteGroup. 😧

I think I may have found TiteGroups niche: .380/9Mak. Best thing yet for both.

I will admit TiteGroup is a good 9mm powder, so it seems like it would be a good fit in .380/9Mak as well. It meters well with those small charges, unlike Unique at that weight range. I just don't like the heat it generates. In a poly pistol it doesn't make that big of a difference... but steel, yes.

I'll probably get some TiteGroup after this bottle of W231 and my bottle of HS6 are gone. It will push 147 grain RMR Match Winners nearly as well as the HS6 for 2/3 the price. I use HS6 currently for Bullseye shooting with my Canik. TiteGroup will hold the black if I can. I can probably get some 30-30 and 357 Mag target loads out of TiteGroup as well. I still have a pound of W231 too, but I haven't opened it yet. I'm kind of afraid to open it. It might make more if I set it next to the old bottle. If I open it and leave it near the HS6 heaven knows what I'll get.

I never did load TiteGroup with the 147's... I think it's too much bullet for that powder, in that case. .1grn difference pumps the pressure up nearly 1700psi; throw in a little bullet setback, a deep seat, or a hot lot, and you are easily over max. I think it works well with the 115's and 124's. I'll admit, I'm very cautious around the 9mm; Back Home, Years Ago I did dumb things with the 9mm in my HiPower, and particularly with heavy bullets. I lived to tell the tale, but I have a pretty healthy respect for that tiny, high-pressure round. :)
