What have you done in the reloading room today

Here in TX most don't know how to drive on wet roads, so forget icy roads. They think since they have 4x4 they can drive on anything and go anywhere. They forget one minor detail is that you have to be able to STOP. I think the ground is too warm for ice to form except on bridges right now. I use to do work for the north slope. Average low is -30F. Did most all of my testing at -50F with some at -75F. I still have my arctic suit, rated for -50F. You can't even put the thing on till it gets <32F, other wise you will sweat even with all the vents opened. Still got to deal with your limbs, hands & feet, are the first to go. Any temp in the -25F range is very dangerous, you can frost bite your lungs if your not careful. Filtered air is required once you get down to -30F. Had to use it a couple of years ago when we go down into single digits to help a neighbor feed his cattle. He had a knee replacement and could not get around. Diesel engine equipment owners found out the diesel fuel jells when it gets cold. We normally don't get the #1 fuel here since we normally don't get cold enough.

Nice little setup. I think I would have just used an old iPad and be done. Nice inventory on the LR's. Which is the only primer I'm low on but do not have a gun that requires them. Except one but I got the SR primer brass for it. I have a 6mm Barrel blank setting in my shop waiting for me to machine now for over 2 yrs now. I've resisted machining it till LR primers comes more available.

But I’m just watching the weather channel

Stay warm, my friend............................
Might as well get some of those pizzas, too................................. 😁
I heard when they were hammering out the border between Nebraska and South Dakota, the Nebraskans were adamant they not be in South Dakota. When asked why they said they just couldn’t take another S. Dakota winter. Any truth to that?

Well yesterday I put up a 25rd box of 00 buck and so far this morning I've poured sized and am now powder coating a bit over a hundred Lee 452-255 RFN for a friend to try out in his new Uberti lever gun. He won't be driving them fast but they should put a yote or pig on tha ground...

We have a couple or 3 days of bad weather in the forecast, at least bad for here. So yesterday I tumbled 3 loads of brass and just put the first one in for today. While its tumbling I am sorting yesterdays clean brass and storing it away. This may be the theme for the next few days unless the power goes off!

Swapped the Pro 6000 over to .223 and got everything set up. I'll just have to fine tune the seating depth and crimp. I'm thinking I may have to put my 75gr bullets on by hand, the Lee inline doesn't seem to be interested in dropping them. 62gr fmj's drop great! I'll mess with it more later this evening.

I de-primed about 600 each 30 Carbine cases and Trimmed them also. I am going to reload them for my Ruger Blackhawk 30 Carbine SSA. I have about 200 new Starline Brass which didn't have to be trimmed but made them also the same length as not to have any problem when at the range. Will load them when the weather gets a little warmer, didn't get about 50 degrees today. I don't like to shoot when it is cold outside so I am glad I live in Nor Cal cause the winters are not that bad, Just bad because of the politicians that don't like firearms of any kind. Hope with the next election that will change. NEED A PRO GUNNER AS GOVERNOR!!!

Washed annealed and did full brass prep on some ppu 6.5x55. The shoulder lengths are all over the map but I'll fire form them and go from there. My first bout with this chambering, multiple die options on hand, Lee, rcbs, Redding both standard and bushing along with Wilson chamber bullet seaters. Probably take a while to try it all out, but that's the adventure. I think I also have some Norma brass to play with. 17052805671142629870072440030027.jpg

Did some more wet tumbling today.
Divided my brass into 3 lots of a little more than 300 rounds each. (223)
Darn it... not quite a thousand total.

The final result of the first batch...

compared to a dirty batch.

Sorted those by headstamp and will continue on when I feel like it!!

Made some .38 waddies.

I purchased 100 Missouri Bullet Company 148gr Hi-Tek coated bullets.

Today I assembled-
36 rounds 2.7gr Bullseye
27 rounds 3.1 gr Titegroup
36 rounds 3.4gr W231
1 dummy round to set up the dies

What a complete crock.

Has this thread devolved to complaining about "people that are different from me" and the weather?

Today in the reloading room I coated 13lbs of NOE 360-158-WFN-T4 solids with 3 coats of Hi-tek brick red. 9lbs more to go and then I'll move on to another bullet to start coating.

It was a joke. Don’t be so sensitive and my TV is in my reloading room and I was measuring some 9mm for another thread. IMG_4464.jpeg

Still tumbling brass! Did 3 loads yesterday and sorted and stored away the dry brass from the day before. Same plan for today, tumble 3 or maybe 4 loads and sort and store away the dry brass from yesterday.

Its 9º and snowing here, 1 to 3 inches on the ground and more falling. Might as well do something productive, right?

Setup my Dillon 750 last night for a run of 40S&W.

Ordered a borescope/camera setup to eliminate my powder check die and use my eyes for a visual check of each round. Will be mounted on a flex shaft off the case feeder support post, the camera will utilize the powder check rod hole for access through the tool head. This will let me have a dedicated crimp die, if needed. Got the below for $65 using the 15% off coupon shown below the price, amazing how cheap these Chinese electronics have become; it will be an easy life for it with minimal movement so hopefully I get good life out of it. Quality from the reviewers seems really good for what I need, it will allow me to keep my head in one position rather than looking down into the case everytime.

Since I managed to find a good load with the 38 Special cases I've collected over the years, I'm currently prepping them to load the rest of the box of Berrys DEWC bullets I found. I plan to hit the LGS to see if they still have the other box of DEWC I saw. That should keep me in target loads for my Blackhawk into the spring and maybe summer.

Mentored another 50 rounds of 30-06. He might be ready to do that cartridge on his own now. Next up cones 223, and I'm pushing hard to split a 4k order of rmr 69s.... one bullet to rule them all.

Enjoying the weather like Lightman is. Looked around for something to load, but everything is tidy, prepped, and laddered for what I want to do right now. Looked for my 220 Swift dies - I think I loaned them out around 25 years ago; dang. Made a list of things to order from RCBS. Probably be Wednesday before I can get up the hill. Turned on the Buffalo game to see how the poor folks live. Built a fire in the woodburner - it seems like alcohol is the fuel of choice in Buffalo. Unpacked the range bag and re-cleaned 3 @ 38's and 357's until the heat chased me out (good stove).

Temperature has been holding around 18F here. Walked into my shop and the thermometer over my door was showing 30F. Went inside the climate controlled area a nice 72F to work in. Got about 1/4" of freezing rain and sleet last night, so I'm not going anywhere.

I took my 6.5CM AR out to the shop and cleaned up the break. Been over a years since I've cleaned it, it was carbon up pretty bad in the ports. Took me 2 hrs to clean. Next time I'm going to take it off and throw it in the US cleaner and let it do the work. But I did not want to take the brake off since it's indexed.

Would soaking the muzzle in Isopropyl Alcohol cause any issues with the finish? I use it and q tips to spot clean handguns and it seems to work fine for getting the majority of carbon and junk off.
