What have you done in the reloading room today

I am right now taking a little break. I got it all up and functioning here in the new room, and I'm in process now of making all this stuff fit in here. This is where I thought I might have a problem, I know alot of you fine fellas are probably similar to I.....a fair amount of stuff to put up. Guess I'll have to make use of the guest room closet 🙂
Reckon nothing better to do the next week well below freezing here. Between that and the Bugtussle flood of '39 we had here last week, my range is best fit for pond hockey

I am working on attempting to rectify our brass/primed brass counts in the reloading room and completely forgot about our stash of primed 9mm brass! We have a 30 cal size plastic can full and another about that size full as well... So I'll be filling up some of the ammo boxes that we have for 9mm up and seeing how it ends up after that.

So I found this interesting headstamp just now... F&S which I'm pretty sure is Field and Stream from when Dicks Sporting Goods used to sell guns and ammo.

I promised the neighbor who started reloading again some Winchester LP primers. I pretty much had to ransack the room to find them. Turned up the W296 I knew I had but thought I had given away. Lucky day! 😁

Only have 7 100rd boxes and a 50ct box free so 750 primed 9mm cases in boxes with a fair bit left. I estimated about 1200 or more cases in there at the start and it looks like I'll be close...

Liquid Death water is actually pretty good. It's basically the only water I like lol. I'll leave it at that.

Would soaking the muzzle in Isopropyl Alcohol cause any issues with the finish? I use it and q tips to spot clean handguns and it seems to work fine for getting the majority of carbon and junk off.

This was baked on carbon (thick in some areas 1/32"+) from over a year of shooting. I normally don't let it get this bad, but apparently I got lazy this year. Clean now. This gun is shooting sub moa (1/2) at 300 yrds, so I don't want to mess with it. To get it loose would require me to secure the break and use a action action wrench to turn the barrel. If I recall the torque is around 75 ft/lbs when I put it on. When I do this work I torque the break blank on then setup the index and start machining. This way every thing is true on axis.

There is no problem with the finish, SS with a mat (glass bead) surface.

Last night I set about cleaning from Saturdays range trip. I've been working my way trough my inherited collection and this go around I took the 1894 marlin cowboy. I started with a new brush and soaked the bore with mineral spirits several times with a bore mop. After wearing out the brush and still pushing out black patches I started again with another new brush. I finally quit and it's still not clean. I'll take it again next trip and shoot it some more. Never fought a barrel this hard, and my dad not being a cleaner it's not really surprising. I don't know who he got it from so that is also suspect.

Loaded up 40, 30-06 M2 loads for my Garand. 150gr FMJBT Hornady bullet, 49.5gr IMR4064, Win primer, Mil brass. I hope to shoot about 6 CMP matches this year, so I am starting to build some inventory for that. Should need around 300 rounds for the matches total.

I have a New England Westinghouse Mosin-Nagant that looked like a smoothbore, had picked it up for $65 back when I worked for (W) just as a curiosity piece. Got enthused last year and spent around 2 weeks on it - lots of Kroil, Shooters Choice, and Hoppes with soak periods between scrubs. Found that a patch wrapped around a bronze brush and liberally saturated with JB's Bore Paste and solvent of the day really helped. Once cleaned, the bore turned out to be in really good condition - the lead coating probably protected it from corrosive primers!

Now that's bad 🤣

Get yourself some Boarshead Rimfire Blend….
I think that’s the correct brand name (Rimfire Blend is correct)…
I can send a pic later when I get home…
The stuff works AMAZING on removing lead and such….!!

Taking advantage of weather that is too cold to do anything else, I loaded up 50 rounds of .45 Colt: New Starline brass, 250-gr Hornady XTP, 18.0 grains of Hercules 2400, and a good solid crimp. So I've used up all of the available .45 brass I have on hand. I ordered new 30-06 brass from Starline yesterday, and will work my way through my 30-06 agenda as soon as it arrives. :)

So looking at Sierra's manual I noticed something interesting... They say that Federal 205s are Small Rifle Magnum???? Interesting...
I guess it's like Winchester Large Pistol primers that are for use in both standard and magnum loads?
