What have you done in the reloading room today

I’m sitting at my bench… I took a tumble on the ice yesterday(like up in the air, land flat on my back, with a 2cubic foot water softener on a two wheel dolly in my lap) so I’m a bit stiff! But I’m still working on stuff. Looks like 308 on the menu for this evening. I think another ladder (smaller) of 110 v max and benchmark. It’s looks like closer to 48.5 gr will run better…
And I just realized I haven’t cleaned my 320 since last workout, and that was 350 rounds worth. And then I realized my bore brush for 9mm is busted. So that’ll wait.
Hopefully you’re not to sore. Ice is the worse part of winter for me.

Glad you were not seriously injured. Ice ain't any fun!

Broken record again! Around and around! Tumbled 3 more loads of brass today and sorted and stored away the clean dry brass from yesterday. Plan to do the same again tomorrow. After that I'll be out of Wash-in-Wax until I make a store run. Thought I had another bottle!

47-49 gr(in .5 increments)of Benchmark with 110 V-Max. Definitely compressed at the upper end. 1.2 gr to go by the book. And that’s only 54ish K psi. Interesting.

Interesting 🤔 I've wondered how fast the 110gr stuff would go out of my M1 but I really really like the 165gr soft point stuff so......

10 cases shy of 1000. Not bad for a small businesses hand/scale counting from a 55 gallon drum into a bag like Millworks Brass is probably doing.
I'm sure the guy after us got 1010 cases lol.
I forgot I had primed 44 of these already with Winchester #41 primers. I think I did that to test if there is any difference with a magnum primer but apparently Fed 205s are magnum according to Sierra so idk.

They are certainly weighing those... there is no way they are hand counting those.

Felt pretty frisky tonight, so I loaded 11 6.5CM cartridges with the 140grn Nosler bonded bullet, over H4350, using Nosler's 'most accurate load' data. Those will be for my brother's future 6.5CM rifle he tells me he's going to get.

Loaded 100 .41MAG with my 8grn Unique and the Xtreme 210grn PFP. If these perform well in my 3 .41 pistols, it would become my new mid-range bullet choice. My initial test shot well in my 57, we will have to see how it does in the 58, the Dan Wesson, and, of course, the Marlin.... although the Marlin has never been picky about bullets.

I also loaded 25 of those Xtreme bullets over a big charge of IMR4227... for the Marlin. Might as well go for it....

Thankfully you didn't hit your head. Or maybe not:)

I almost did the same thing a couple of times going down my driveway and ended up shuffling along like an old politician to maintain my balance.

Just loaded 10 45acp rounds using old pulled/beat up/resized Acme coated 230gr RN.

I've mentioned these bullets before. They were .452" and are now .451". Formerly, they wouldn't work in my finicky pistols so as I pull them they are resized and reused. I'm not after precision shooting like some of youins just incapacitating a paper target before it gets me.

As I posed the pictures I was reminded of something I'm sure you all know but still might find pictures interesting. That is, what's under your scale matters. In the final two pictures note the different readings of the very same powder in the pan. IMG_4472.jpeg

I my .500 S&W all Hodgdon powders call for LMRPs all other powders call for LRPs. I have not difference in using LRPs instead of LMRPs in the Hodgdon powders. There was very little difference in FPS between the two. However, what I did discover in cold weather 20 degrees and colder the LRPs did not perform well. There was a considerable difference in FPS between the LMRPs and the LRPs. I found little or no difference in FPS between LMRPs and LRPs when using in powders that called for LRPs only. Either in cold or hot weather.

Yup! My scale(Hornady bench top model; M4 maybe?) sits leveled on the bench with sharpie drawn around its feet. Temperature and humidity also effect many of the less expensive digital/“strain cell” scales… maybe someday my ship will come in and I’ll pick up an fx-120 and autotrickler… trouble is every time my ship has come in, I’ve been at the airport.
Edit: I fixed the scale name. FX not fox. 🥸 autocorrect ya know
Also the brand is A&D

That's clever.

I'm not familiar with any other brand scale but I've read some of the threads here and know I too would like a better one. But, its a desire not a need at this point.

Ran myself out of my 154 noe and Keith 358429 170swc so I did my first refill batch today. Probably take two or three more sessions to backfill my supply to respectable levels. It's not like I'm really low as I have a lot loaded.... 20240118_152411.jpg

The only thing I see low is that coffee cup!!! How can any respectable handloader operate under such conditions?!?!

Speaking of being low... I about dusted off my H4350 last night loading those few 6.5MB cartridges. Looking at the 'new' prices at Powder Valley this morning... and about choking on my morning coffee... I decided I need to be a Man of Action. The LGS had 8#ers of H4350 a few weeks ago for about $380... PV's new price... so I thought I'd go have a look. Sure enough, they still had 5... so I grabbed one. Even with 8.25% sales tax it wound up being less than PV's price with HazMat... so that's what I did.

Consolidated powder into smaller jugs

My normal mode is to keep the 8#'ers under the bench, and just refill the 1# bottles for ease of handling. It's also easier to keep inventory when you take 1# lots out when the smaller cans run dry. These days, in the low store inventory/high price world we live in, keeping tabs on what you have is paramount... unless you like surprises.

I also try to keep one 1lb can of a powder and use a 4 or 8 pound jug to refill it or I can just use a paper coffee cup to fill our powder dispenser. I know even our FFL cost on powder had indeed gone up a bit in the past couple weeks as well... sigh...

Maybe try ramshot hunter or sw 4350...

Doing my 1st clean out and reorganizing the brass + bullets into a storage room. Trying to get a nice Zen in my cluster room.

Did my "pilot run" of 50 .223 62gr fmj's on the six pack pro tonight. Everything ran smoothly except the inline bullet feeder. A lot of frustration with it working, then hanging up, and LAUNCHING a bullet out with a bunch of spring pressure. I reset it up per instructions, checked for burrs, filed the sharp edges of the return spring all to no avail. Then said screw it and took the spring out and let gravity do it's thing.... And it ran flawlessly through the rest of the rounds! After I was done I even checked to see if it would work with 75gr bthps without the spring, and after moving the balls to the top hole, it feeds them great as well! No spring it is! Now I'm just going to have to wait till it's not ridiculously cold out to try out the loads!

What is that floating on your lead?

Hobby Lobby here sells 1lb blocks of bees wax. At 650 degrees I dip the corner of the block into the lead and light it up. When it stops burning I stir all the surface crud and mash it against the side of the pot with a spoon similar to yours. Anything left over gets scraped off the surface. Then I stir in some pewter and clean the surface again. By this time the temp is almost up to 720 and I begin casting

I just dropped in ingots to refill the pot and it was warming. I fluxed it after it was up to temp. I don't want to pull the antimony I just added back out
