You got a shoulder left after that?Wash day, normally happens on Sunday, but it rained all day Saturday so we shot on sunday.... so 45 cal and 7.7 doesn't go well together either View attachment 1198787

7 grains of hp38 under a 255 in a 24" octagon cowboy marlin is easy day.... shoot that all day and then some.... the 7.7 load is equivalent to a 308 with a 150 grain just below 2700 fps. They are easy shooters.... I'm not fond of recoil really, that's why the 45-70 gets very little play!!!!You got a shoulder left after that?
Interested in your results….I finally finished off the first 100 Sy/A primed .38Spl. Two loads: 4.2 gr W231 under a 160gr #358311 made of Linotype in a Gevarm case; and, 4.2gr W231 under a 142gr FMJ-TC in a WIN case. I have identical loads (except the primer) of each for comparison.
Love me some IMR4350 in .243.Loaded a couple dozen .243 win:
Federal brass
95 grain Fed Fusion
IMR4350 powder
Win LR primers
I totally get it. That's why I have my Winchester '66 in .44-40.7 grains of hp38 under a 255 in a 24" octagon cowboy marlin is easy day.... shoot that all day and then some.... the 7.7 load is equivalent to a 308 with a 150 grain just below 2700 fps. 30-30 full power loads out of my 94 are much more uncomfortable than both of those two I was shooting. I don't know if it's geometry or gun weight or what. The 35 is supposed to buck just as much or more than the 30. I'd love to have a 35 rem but brass is not terribly common and I don't think starline picked it up. I'd likely shoot my 180 cast Silhouette bullet and find a bluedot load like I did for the 30. Makes it much more fun to shoot.I totally get it. That's why I have my Winchester '66 in .44-40.
Even my little Marlin in .35 Remington can bark pretty loud after a box of 20.
Not sure if anyone is currently making .35 Rem brass right now. No worries; I have enough once or twice fired cleaned and baggied to last until the next millenium. The big issue now is whether Sierra and/or Hornady will continue the 200gr RN bullets. They've both been on again/off again for the last 5 years or so.The 35 is supposed to buck just as much or more than the 30. I'd love to have a 35 rem but brass is not terribly common and I don't think starline picked it up.
Ok, so I haven't gotten around to loading .38 Special yet but when I went to the range today, someone was nice enough to leave me 50 pieces of once-fired brass. Now I have yet ANOTHER reason to load more of the stuffYou are more than welcome!
I think that is part of the reason we are here!
That's like gold to me!someone was nice enough to leave me 50 pieces of once-fired brass.
You'll need a spot not in the main box area for primers... you can beat smokeless to death with a hammer and nothing happens, primers do what they do when impacted. The reloading recliner has been fruitful this evening. Sized and de primed 200 rds of 38 special and organized my new little carry box
I wish they would sell those stands... can't believe they haven't figured that out yet...In the process of 3D printing a microscope stand for my Lee Lead Hardness Tester.

I also woke up early and loaded 50 44 Magnum with 19.9gr of Vihtavuori N110 over a 240gr JSP.

For cowboy action 3.4 grains of red dot below a 158 cast in a 38 case is super easy shooting and superbly accurate.. in a lever probably get zero muzzle rise.I've been cleaning my walk in closet gun room.
I had stuff I bought and never opened.
I bought the grandson a 1897 -12 gauge pump, two 357mag Ubertie revolvers and the leather belt and holsters this week for cowboy shooting.
Just waiting for a marlin 357 magnum lever action for him.
I'll start loading some 357 magnum lead ammo for his cowboy shoot.
He will be using an old winchester pump 22 rifle for now until the 357 magnum rifle becomes available.
I picked up 1,000 federal primers for strictly cowboy shooting.
I’m trying them in .38Spl because I have guns with springs from super soft to jackhammer hard. Identical loads except for the primers. I have 50 w/ SyA, 50 w/ CCI 500, and 50 w/ Rem 1-1/2. Now I just need to find the time.I’ve heard good things about the SA primers other than striker fired guns. Finicky in them
