What have you done in the reloading room today

Staball6.5 gave me the best combination of velocity and accuracy in a Ruger No.1 RSI in 7x57mm. Hornady 154 SST with 49.0 grains gave me 2737 fps (SD 16) a 3-shot 1.5" group @ 200Y off the bench bags. Another nice cartridge that is dying due to the industry need to sell "The New".

Loaded up some 30-30 160 gr. FTX over CFE223.

I’ve been putting in a lot of time on the bench resulting in a lot of output. I think I’ll try and get out to the range soon 😊

I also picked up a TC Contender w/ a .256 Win Mag barrel @ an auction. Excited about developing a load for that cartridge, and all the prep & things that come with loading it. Beautiful. Even have that tilt shot technique going on.

Resizing some Acmes I pulled yesterday from .452" to .451".

Long story told here long ago, but there's some bad mojo between my 1911s and .452" Acmes. A little burning sage, chanting, resizing, and reloading does the trick.

And spending more time than usual just sitting around. Last Thursday ate 12 delicious raw oysters...48 hours later really bad mojo...been sick since. Almost time for doctor visit.

Tried out the Hornady 300 grain XTP in the .44 Magnum Marlin 1894P, with 17.0 grains of Accurate No.9. Success!

1387 fps SD 13
50Y 5-shot group 2.75" (Williams FP, elbows on a bench)

This post killed me only because I had a similar Marlin Lever in 44 mag. With a spotting scope. I sold it for a mere pittance about 12 years ago. I have huge regrets on that sale.

Enjoy that great Marlin. Wish I still had mine.

OK gents. Trying to clean up the reloading room today, AKA, MY GARAGE. My reloading bench area is clean enough, but the rest of the garage is a disaster area. The biggest issue is my lovingly restored 1982 Honda GL-500 Silverwing Interstate - Twisted V engine. I have to get that sold or donated. I have hung up my motorcycle spurs permanently, and it is taking up far too much room in the garage, so out it goes. Hopefully I can get it started and donate it to the "Vehicles For Veterans" program. I think it must be running for that to happen. I have not started it in 5 or so years. I just put in a new battery last week, so I am crossing my fingers.

Lots of work to do. I plan on finishing today's cleanup by 3 PM, then some 45 Colt Reloading as a reward for my hard work. The entire garage project willt take weeks.

Resized bullets earlier, just finished resizing cases, now chamfering slightly, then will expand slightly using Redding M-style, probably tomorrow. Don't know when I'll reload.

Not to pick a fight, but I'm skeptical chamfering with a few turns of this tool can be problematic to head spacing on the case mouth. There, I said it.

Still feeling negative effects of oysters. Good excuse to just piddle around.

Dump out any gas that's in it. Pull the bowls on the carb and inspect for Alcohol damage. Ethanol gas is only good for 30-90 days max depending on temp stored. I run ethanol free in all of my small engines, lawn equipment and boat. Once I switched over, I no longer had to work on equipment to get it to run every year. Cost more but saves money in the long run.

That certainly is a fine looking rifle. Just perfect!

On the patio, cinder block w a small Kydex sheet on top.....
RCBS kinetic hammer.

Yup, disassembling some ammo people gave me.
Don't trust anybody's reloads but my own.

Am pretty quick at it LOL.
Tear em all down (145 pcs).
Only 50 left.
Got a rhythm going :)

Deprime some other day.

Drain the gas tank and the carbs (hopefully it was put up that way). You might need to drop the float bowls and clean the crud out - I'd at least check 1 to see before trying to fire it up. Put 1 gallon of gas with 1 pint of SeaFoam in the tank and see if it starts. Otherwise, you might need to lovingly restore the carbs and fuel system end to end....
