If you were to say this is my BEST BUY & spent $$$$$, not given, stolen found or a freebie it would be: _________________!!! :D

Mine would be a Winchester 94 made in 1963 for $30.00. It was bought in the spring of 2006. What is your best bargin????

I got a double barrel 1914 12 gauge, a single barrel stevens, and a single barrel topper for 50$ once (the guy thought that they were missing parts as the barrels and forends were taken off)

I picked up a greener damascuss double barrel 12 gauge for 20$ one time, it needed a little trigger work but the fit and finish was the nicest I've ever seen on a shotgun.

marlin model 60 for 50$

SMLE mk IV in .303 for 20$

and a brand new .410 for 50$

guy wasn't a gun person, had taken in the guns as partial payment for a tennant who was short on rent and needed the cash asap for paying bills.

I almost felt bad about buying them, but he named the prices, and if I didn't buy em someone else would have.

A straight-up Mk IV? Dang, I've been looking for one of those for years! Some people have all the luck.

Unfortunately, I have no good deal stories. Little bit here, little bit there, nothing huge.

I got paid $6 to take a Mossberg 500 20 GA from a guy......

I got a free Mosin Nagant 44

Paid $64 for a Winchester 121

Gave $250 for a Norinco AK47, that was a so-so deal

My Franchi Spas-12. Local dealer had it less than a week before I picked it up for $400 + tax.

How about dumbest move? Sad to say, but my brother offered to sell me his Remington 700 CDL in .300 win mag w/ scope for $350. I wasn't interested in long range shooting then, and I turned it down because I wanted to get tires for my car instead. He sold it a week later for $800.

so sad

An Uncle passed away in 1964. Before any relatives could find out, Aunt Anita was offered $100 for a closet of maybe 50 rare and classic guns by the local gun store. Think your rarest and colectible Winchesters x 2.

Local LEO told her to do it.

At least $15,000 THEN.

Dang - I thought I had done OK in March to get a pre-safety Marlin 336RC in 35 Remington for $200, or a Marlin 25N for $47 last December.

Colt Bullseye Match target with the Elephant ear grips

2 Years ago, picked up from a local Gun store a Colt Bullseye Match target .22 pistol with the strange elephant ear grips in 98% condition but no box for $400. I saw the guy bring it in and sell it to the strore and sell it to them for $200. I talked to the clerk right after that and asked him about it. He said he would sell it to me for $400 and I never whipped out my wallet faster.

I bought a Sig P238 for $500. The gunstore clerk told me to just wipe off the barcode on the side that come with all Sigs now. After paying for the gun I informed him (and later confirmed this with Sig) that the barcode means that this particular gun came from the Department of Homeland Security's Testing and Evaluation program. The gun may not have any greater monetary value but it cetainly have a uniqueness factor.

If you don't have a good story to share, see my sig line. I'm selling STIs for lower than you have ever seen. :p It will make a good post next time we do this thread.

My personal best? I once built an AR15 out of spare parts during a slow gunshow Sunday, for under $400.

Gosh~! Let me Think A Minute?

Probably one of these:

a) NIB Seecamp LWS-32 for $360

b) NIB Springfield XD-.45ACP 4" service for $399

c) NIB Springfield Armory 5" MIL SPEC for $421

or

d) a LNIB Springfield Armory WW-II G.I. replica* with box and doc's for FREE:D

I picked up a Swede M96 for $90 from Jim Supica at Old Town Station a couple years ago. It was described as "mismatched," but only the barrels bands were non-matching. The gun is 95% and has Finnish army acceptance marks.

My best was a 98% High Standard 103 Hamden Olympic short w/2 'space-gun' barrels for $400. I once got screwed out of a marlin 1895 45-70 guide gun w/ marbles tang sight and a sling for $220  I also got screwed out of a colt 1991 w/ crimson trace grips for $400, that one I had put on layaway (300 down till I got my pistol stamp for it), It got sold to another customer by a part-timer who lost his job over it.

I have had some good buys recently.

2 Springfield XD tacticals 9mm and 357sig $325 NIB each
SA M1A1 NM $1200 NIB

I traded about four dollars worth of baseball cards for a H&R revolver. It wasn't in great shape, but it cleaned up nice and shoots well. It's just a little .22, but it comes in handy for teaching.

Ruger Mark II Government Competition for $60.00. Neighbor was moving, didn't want it anymore and said he would give me a great deal as long as he didn't have to clean it. Needless to say I got a great deal.

Not bad for $60.00 bucks.

I bought a slab side at a gun show for $300.
I thought that wasn't bad.
A couple of weeks ago there was one at a gun show for $500.
You stole that one.
Good deals like that don't happen very often.

A deal where you feel good and smug long after the transaction.

I got a 'broken' Turkish Mauser for 80 and fixed it for nothing. They're normally about 120 give or take. Magazine was jammed solid so I used a bit of force to remove the lower plate and realign it and it works fine.
:D

got a kreighof cased trap set [k-80] and a benelli m1s90 for $150. im a pi and i ran into one of the adjusters for a larger ins company, they had these guns that had been recovered after the claim had been paid. the guns had been on the bottom of a iron rich lake, and were thought to be rusted. wrong, just red mud.
i traded both for aboput 4 thousand bucks worth of cash and trade.
pat
