My vote goes to the $519.00 CZ 75B with the Omega trigger that I handled last night. This trigger out of the box is as good the trigger on my own 75B after a 1,200 round break-in. What's your choice?

I don't know how "best" can be determined but MY favorite pistol for under $600 is the Walther PPQ. Not only did I handle one in the store but I bought one and have fired it quite a bit and I just adore it.

For me? Two guns: The Beretta Px4 Storm subcompact and a Glock 26.

Didn't pay $600 for either of them but with upgraded sites on the Storm I am pushing that envelope. Fantastic performance in pistols small enough to have with me at all times as well as a high enough capacity to make me very comfy.

Not bad range guns either for indoor SD style practice.

Like Vodoun da Vinci, I like the Beretta PX4 storm. After shooting my Brother-in-laws' gun , I had to buy one. It is a very well made gun and the action is very smooth and recoil is mild in 9mm. I like it much better than my CZ PCR and the SIG P228. For the price, you can't go wrong on this one and Beretta is a great company.

My choice would be a Glock 19. Or Glock 26.

Or if concealing it won't be a concern perhaps a Glock 17 or even a Glock 34.

Holy COW! Really? The one I had a few years ago was so poor, after lighter springs and polishing, that a pal of mine who shoots DA/SA guns almost exclusively in competition, stopped halfway through the trigger pull and said, "naaah," set it down and passed on shooting it.

It's not really all that new, but I do love my 75B Omega like crazy.

CZ-75B... if you like/want 'all-metal'... a fantastic, classic pistola!!
Second, probably Glock... if you like/want a 'poly-gun' and the hand-fit works for you.

Well, that sounds like an extremely poor example. I have a few that are totally stock, and have some of the better triggers of all my DA/SA autos. With Canjun Gun Works, or CZ Custom there is no reason to have a CZ with a bad trigger.

Must be that Susquehanna River humidity. :)

Back then, I couldn't find anyone with a solution to the Omega trigger mechanism. Might be different now.

Ppq, m&p9 (with apex trigger kit), glock 19, cz 75/p07/09. Take your pick, these and many more are excellent values for under $600.

He's got Omega stuff now. No personal experience with the Omega 75 or P02 though.

My choice would be a CZ85 Combat.

And still be within the $600 or less range?

Right! That's why I was so surprised. If it is possible to rectify the Omega trigger system, that would be worth knowing -- or if CZ has redesigned it to work better, or if he got an Omega system that is GOOD out of the box. All very interesting to me.

Well I haven't fired a whole lot of different ones, so I can't speak for what the best is, but the Sig 2022 is certainly a bargain. They were $400 when I got mine. They've went up a little but they're still under $500. Great gun for the money.

Best for what? Concealment, range, home defense, hunting, etc.?

Here's two 9mm pistols that I've found listed for under $600, both new production, excellent shooters, quality manufacture...and completely opposite ends of the spectrum.
