It's good to be prepared :)

Not shown is OC. I want to find a good, small light, but I don't like the thought of having more to carry.

The Reason I am asking for this is I want to get an idea of what others carry so I can adapt my own EDC.

I don't know if 'following the pack' is the best way to choose what you need. I would look more at your personal circumstances, and what you feel you need to be prepared for.
Choosing what to carry in your pockets is not really a difficult task. ;)

I don't have any pictures, but I open carry an A2, complete with the burst on my selector. I also dress tactical at all times with my boots and cammies. Depending on how I'm feeling and where I'm going, I also wear a helmet and a flak vest with SAPI inserts...but then again I'm deployed to Iraq so it's kind of required of me, eh?

I hope if you have to shoot someone, your wallet never is presented in a courtroom Colin. You actually have to think about stuff like that these days. "it is clear this individual was looking to shoot someone by the wallet that is a copy of one used by hit man in a movie." It might not sound funny coming out of a prosecutor's mouth.

Depending on wardrobe:

The 'dad bag' with S&W 6906. Gold dot 124 JHP or Win. 147 Rangers.

The Kimber 1911 in cold weather. Gold dot 230 JHP

The GP100 hiking/hunting. Either 158 JSP or 180 Partitions

SP101 generally in front pocket of in an IWB holter at 7-8 o'clock (I'm a lefty) two HKS speedloaders and two speedstrips. Most often .38 special +P 158 LHP.

Keltec P-32. Just about all the time. I have two reloads for it. One is FMJ the other is the Fiocchi 60 JHP.

Depends, I mean, not "Depends" as in trademark...I mean it depends. Wow, that was embarassing. :neener: I usually carry either my Colt 1911s or my Glocks...it depends on where I am going, and what I'm wearing.

Either: Glock 17 & Glock 19C
or
Colt Series 70 Reprod & Colt New Agent

the 442 has been replaced by a 340 m&p and the doubletap golddots by remmi 357 golden sabers.everything else the same except wallets missing about $300.I wear painter pants and keep flashlight and phone in the little pocket on right pantleg.
ps. just looked at pic and realized leatherman knife replaced by kershaw Ken Onion

Good point. I guess the thought had never crossed my mind because it seems so absurd.

ShooterMcGavin, may you only need the condom and never your pistol. Obviously one of our single contributors.

Me,
wallet, keys, .45, cellphone --pager and badge replace .45 in the work zone.

Thanks jeepmore :) I have to admit, it's really a joke. I do not carry a condom every day!

What I really need, to finish off my EDC package, is an official CCW BADGE!!! :)

This is with me all the time....
and a Kimber 1911 (you have seen plenty of those).

Oh, Colin....AWESOME wallet! Pulp Fictionesque!

Where do you guys fit all this stuff? I'm a jeans and t-shirt guy, so I carry a Colt Defender .45 IWB/SOB. Can't stand stuff in my pockets, so my wallet is a money clip type with the least amount of cards/permit/licenses that I can get away with, while my money goes in a front pocket with a Motorola Razr, and the opposite front pocket gets a tube of Chapstick and a single VW switchblade key.

DSCF0795.JPG

Key, Wallet, Phone and Camels always present. Options depending on clothing and location to where I am going include HK USP-40 Fullsize, S&W Mod. 65 .357 mag., Ruger SP-101 .38 spl +P, and Taurus Mod. 85UL .38 SPL +P.

Depends on not only what I am wearing, but most importantly WHERE I am going. North part of the City, HK or S&W with a backup of one of the .38s. Anywhere else typically the Ruger or Taurus. Unless I go out of town, then its the HK and the Ruger.

Proper tool for the mission is #1 priority here in T-Town. On a side note, I typically DO NOT use a holster. The primary reason for this is my body type. Its has been VERY hard finding a holster that works well concealing the weapons I choose with the clothing I wear. Typically it is more practical AND concealable to simple tuck the weapon in the waistband on my primary side, and typically carry the backup in the Left jacket pocket or a ankle holster.

I carry...

either the M&P J frame in the front pocket of my work pants when wearing a dress shirt or the M&P 9mm compact tucked in the waistband just beind my right hip with casual wear (jeans or shorts) and an untucked shirt.
I like the Nemesis holsters for both carrys. I don't wear a belt when dressed casually and find that the Nemesis holster holds securely in my waistband even if I jump up and down.

Collin, are those RNL bullets? If so, take a few hours and check THR threads for the best type of self defense bullets, I don't think those in the picture would qualify.

they look like FMJ rounds too me, which are certainly acceptable for carry, they'll penetrate barriers easily if the need should arise and will still do the job as long as shot placement is decent. The military has relied on them for years so why not a normal person. Many of you will say, "omg, over penetration" to FMJ ammo but I think the chances are pretty low that they will punch through center of mass and still be much faster than a paint ball after exiting ( 2-300 hundred fps), especially standard .38spl loads. And one also has to consider that alot of jhp ammo has trouble expanding out of a snubbie anyways.

First off, welcome to THR.

There are already many threads on this subject (FMJ vs JHP for SD) but I think you should start another one explaining the merits of your opinion. It should be a fun debate.:)

No pics, but my everyday CCW setup is a Glock 27 .40, in an IWB holseter, a reload magazine, and a surefire G2. Comfortable for me, and in a cartridge I trust. But that's what works for me. Try to find a place that rents handguns, and find what works for you with some actual range time. Just my .02, for whatever it's worth...

george29 - The rounds pictured are American Eagle 130gr JHP. I'm aware they're not the best self-defense choice, but they beat the heck out of a sharp stick. I don't exactly trust a hollowpoint to expand properly when it's only traveling 800 ft/sec - I'm thinking of picking up a box or two of that Extreme Shock frangible stuff. At any rate, this isn't the thread to be discussing ammo selection. :)

Colin
