What made you choose your last handgun??

My last gun purchase was a Browning Buck Mark Hunter. The selection was made primarily due to ammo availability. I'll have an easier time getting .22 rounds than I will, say, .380 rounds (another PPK or a PK380, for example) or 9mm (a full-sized P88, for example; and yes, all of these guns are always on my want-to-buy list).

The Browning name and reputation were factors, as well as the 7.25-inch bull barrel and sights, but ammo was the real driving force on this one.

I wanted a Dan Wesson 44 Mag for over 25 years. I would have preferred a stainless one, but there was a very nice blued 6" heavy barreled one on Gunbroker, and I got it for a great price, about $100 less than the usual price on an auction, and about $200 less than the last one I saw locally.

J-frame envy -- buddy had a no lock 442 that was just the coolest & he wouldn't sell me his :( so I bought my own ;)

I had been in the market for an M&P and my local shop had one used for 475. I looked at it, handled it, and looked up any information I could on it..... went back with the intention of getting it and the shop had gotten something new in and still had the M&P I wanted.... it was the Steyr M9-A1, I handled it, felt even better in my hand than the M&P, had radically cool sites and was under 450 out the door.... so, went with the M9-A1.... and LOVE IT!!!

I bought a .22 rimefire so I could shoot more for less $.I didn't consider it as surrender because I really enjoy shooting rimefires.tom.:D

The last handgun I bought was a Stoeger Cougar. I was wanting to buy a 9mm because it's cheaper to shoot, I was also wanting a smaller (then my Govt mod 1911) for CC, and the Stoeger comes highly recommend and its a great buy. I have to say, that I really like it. Its accurate, reliable and might easier to CC then my Govt Mod 1911.

There were a couple of threads about nagant revolvers on here a week or two ago. Decided to go pick one up as a small B day gift to myself.

Used S&W 5904 Police trade-in for cheap.

Because I like the feel and function, and I wanted a reliable full-sized high-capacity auto for pure utility-use that wasn't beautiful, expensive, or collectable.

I went to the gun show last Saturday intending to maybe pick up a magazine, maybe some ammo. But I had been wanting a small carry pistol for a while. I wound up buying a KelTec P-11. I chose this due to its price range (under 300 dollars NIB) , Its capacity(10 +1 of 9mm), KelTecs reputation for good customer service and several members here seemed pleased with theirs. I know there are better(more refined pistols out there) but I believe with a little time this will work out well for a warm weather carry. Now if I can just find some 9mm to buy, my other pistols are .40s so I didn't have any on hand & haven't got to shoot it yet. This Saturday I hope to.

Outstanding choice, IMHO. Kel-Tec P-11 is currently "next" on my buy list.

Why did I choose my latest handgun? Easy, I didn't have a C.S. Shattuck revolver and thought it was kind of neat.

I've been wanting a .357 for quite a while now. A co-worker was needing some $$$ and sold me a SUPER clean Monson built Dan Wesson 15-2 target model, blue (nice!), 6" barrel, ventilated, heavy underlug. How did I do for $250?

My most recent was actually my first ever. Ruger P345. Here were my reasons
1. I shot it and enjoyed how smooth it was
2. It is concealable and is full size at the same time
3. Recoil is way smooth
4. Its a 45
5. It was in my price range for a brand new gun.
6. I felt that it shot accurate when I took the range gun out, even after heavy use and without cleaning.

What made you choose your last handgun??

My last one was another 1911, I have 5 now. What made me choose it? I don't know, I think I have a sickness!

I was in my favorite gun shop with a wad of cash to blow and looking for a Glock 19.

Well, there were none to be had!!

What was there was a G36 (had it), G26 (had it), G38 (didn't want it), G23 (had it), a G21SF (maybe), and a G30SF (had the G30, it didn't fit my hand). So, I asked to fondle the the 21SF. It was the ambidextrous mag release model, I asked, is this the model that takes the special mags?? Yup!! said the clerk.
Damn, I thought, I have several old style G21 mags left over from when I previously owned a G30. Reluctantly, I handed it back to the guy. That left the 30SF. Now, my previous experience with the 30 was one of frustration. The gun ALMOST fit my hand!! I ended up trading that for my G36. I asked to fondle the 30 anyway. GOTT IM HIMMEL!! The gun now fit!! Does it take the old G21 mags, I asked??? YUP, said the gun guy!! So I plop down my DL, AZ CCW, fill out 'ol 4473, give the gun guy my cash, and leave with a brand spank'in new Glock 30SF!!! :D

Probably, somewhere in the back of my mind, Counter-Strike. Had to say it cause the last purchase was a Desert Eagle. I got a good deal on it and was tired of buying combat purposeful handguns, I just wanted something entertaining and novel.

Three rimfires from three different gunshops. I was looking at the rimfire pistol thread with all the pics of different rimfire guns. I had a Ruger Mk 1 Std. without adjustable rear sight. I wanted a .22 rimfire with an adjustable rear sight. The pics in that thread looked cool.
I bought a Buckmark Hunter 7-3/8 bull barrel matte finish with yellow/orange cocobolo grips. Supposedly better trigger than the Ruger Mk pistols. It had a slight scratch on the underside of the barrel and the dealer reduced price $25.
Next I always wanted a S&W M41 with 7 inch barrel and I was waiting to find one. I did at the Sportsman`s Warehouse and brought it home.
Next I wanted a Ruger MK with adjustable rear sight, stainless Competition Target or Hunter with 6/7 inch barrel. I was looking at those when I found that I kept noticing a Lipseys`s Exclusive blued 5.5in slabside. It has red cocobolo grips, gold plated trigger, high polish deep blue, red/green front sight inserts, beautiful inlay of Ruger logo on bottom of magazines. I thought it is a beautiful pistol. It was new and cost less than the stainless Mk IIs/IIIs. I bought the Lipsey`s Exclusive MK III competition target slabside. I`m glad I did because it isn`t offered in the regular Ruger line. It`s a distributor exclusive for Lipsey`s only and there are not many of them.

pretty much what CWL said, " I wanted it" and the price was right

choosing a handgun

The most recent handgun I bought is a Smith and Wesson 686 SSR, 4" , .357 Mag. The club where I shoot IDPA at (usually with a 1911) announced that they were going to start holding ICORE matches on a different weekend. I didn't have a double action revolver and started looking around for a used 586 but found the new 686 and got it. Just received a new holster and speedloader pouches today from Mernickle Leather. First match is supposed to be this weekend. Mark

I was in a gunshop and they had just taken in trade a S&W Model 19 4inch blued .357. They had $200 in it and agreed to take $225 for it. Looks brand new and is a great shooter.
