FINALLY!!! I have the elusive pistol in question. I can see enough of the proof marks on the side of that pistol to tell you it matches one I have. It's made in Italy and has a PSF proof mark. Left side of my barrel says, "F.I.E. MOD E15 CAL. .22LR MADE IN ITALY". Left side of frame says, "F.I.E. Miami FLA.". There's a serial # on bottom of frame in front of trigger. Right side of frame, has a cartouche of something crossed in a sheild with a star in a circle of leaves above it...a PSF with same star in circle of leaves above it...an AM in a box. Notice the hammer is cocked back slightly?...it has a hammer block safety on the left side that you operate with your thumb. They sold new for $69.00 around the mid-80's when Otasco stores were still in business. It is absolutely the most ear-ringing pistol I have ever shot...unheard of high pitched crack even shooting outdoors.
Missed something...on right side of frame, you can see it in your picture, it also has, "CAT. 885" with another cartouche with a star surrounded by a much fuller wreath with G V T surrounding it. All this is to the right of where you see the CAL 22LR in your picture.
