What shoots 30 Carbine besides an M1 Carbine

Yeah, I know, "underpowered" but I'm fascinated by the round. Does anything on the current market shoot it besides the M1 Carbines?

There was a Ruger revolver that was chambered in it awhile back. Besides that the M1 carbine rifle and 30 carbine cartridge are more or less married to each other. It is unfortunate as I would like to see both the rifle design and cartridge to get more development. A carbine in 223 or 300 BLK would be a bunch of fun. Best I get back to living in the world as it is instead of how I wish it was.

Wasn't there a BFR made in it as well. It be fun if Henry made one chambered in it. I saw a video recently on ammo prices and Rural King was selling ammo for $20 a box. So price of ammo isn't as bad as it used to be, if you can find it.

It's a slick little cartridge. I have a 43 Inland that I load for. Being a straight wall cartridge (more or less) it works well in magazines. The disadvantages are ammo costs and it requires more attention to load than say a 357. Cases have to be checked for length and sized with lube. Even with all of that I still enjoy everything associated with the cartridge. Bullets and powder are easy to find. 300 BO is probably a better choice if you just like 30 with about the same performance, but you didn't ask about that one.

I regularly shoot my Ruger BlackHawk in .30Carbine.
Fun to shoot. People claim it is excessively loud but I use electronic ear muffs and it seems no louder than any other high velocity revolver round to me.
Maybe not to the shooter, but to anyone else on the line it's staggeringly loud. The first time I heard one the shooter was all the way on the other end of the line. He touched one off and my reaction was "What the @#$% was THAT?!?!?". It's amazingly loud. The fireball was impressive also.

I have a friend that has one. To me, it has the most obnoxious muzzle blast a revolver can have. Brutal

Quite a few seldom seen rifles, plus some experimental one-offs:

While there was some experimentation in other military platforms for the .30 Carbine round, they never went far. Why would they? The US Govt had about 10 million they handed out to any friendly govt or faction that wanted them. They even had storage cans full of carbines with mags and ammo and sealed like a spam can.
The M1 Carbine is truly an American success story… the short time from proposal to adoption, the huge production by companies who never made a firearm before… And the final product is great! In wood stock form, it fits me and points like a fine sporting weapon. Light, easy to handle and manipulate.
When the CMP got a pile of Carbines a few years ago, I immediately started getting my paperwork in order, and selling items to pay for it. Then the drive to North Store, and picking out my Inland from the racks…Passed on an IBM for my six digit Inland in great shape, in an I-cut Rockola stock. IMG_0171.jpeg

AMT Automag III. Not currently produced but an awful lot of fun!
I like my Automag III except for the grip being so large in order to accommodate the long .30 carbine shells. I load it with 110 Sierra HPs and 125 HPs. The Ruger Blackhawk binds up with those loads.
I got 2 GI carbines in a trade. One is a folding stock paratrooper model but one of the metal arms has been soldered back together. I guess someone had a hard landing and broke it.

I know its a probably a pipe dream, but IF Savage ever brings back the M99, I wish they would consider .30C for one of the chamberings (along with .223, .300BO, .357 and .22LR). Being rimless, it would work well in a rotary mag, methinks.

Cmon Savage, have you seen what Levermatics are going for!
I wish they would bring back the 99 in any caliber. Great rifle! I have one in .243. One in 7-08 would be nice.

.30 carbine has some oomph to it, as long as we compare it to pistol-sized rounds.
It's actually got a bit more oomph than 357mag, if only slightly.
Have to wonder what would have happened had Winchester kept offering the 32 win self-loading round the 30carbine is cribbed right off of.
But, that's likely going to be like wondering what would happened had the 6mm Lee stayed in production.

Wow, bit surprised to see that the Ruger site shows their NM Blackhawk in 30 as "currently unavailable". Not that it was a huge seller but they had been making it for a long time! I am pretty sure they only ever made it in ONE configuration; blued with a 7.5in barrel. Odd, as most other things have a few configurations over 40-50yrs.

The Blackhawk is neat and an option if you want a flat shooting SA. It made a lot more sense when the M1's and surplus ammo was dirt cheap; now, not so much (and I'm a Ruger fan).
